On the 5th November, we'll be running (as best we can) the 42km from Nice to Cannes, as a team, to raise money for children with cleft lip and palate conditions.
Every 3 minutes, a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate. Many live in isolation (kept out of school and socially exiled) but more importantly, have difficulty eating, speaking and breathing properly and aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job.
Many of these children are unable to access the safe, effective surgical care they need due to shortage of surgeons, medical infrastructure and affordability. Cleft repair surgery is simple and transformation is immediate.
The shocking thing is that without surgery for a cleft condition, 9 out of 10 children in the developing world will likely die before they reach late adolescence.
We believe that every child deserves exceptional surgical care regardless of where they are born or how much money their family makes.
Joseph, from the Philippines, is as an example of how Operation Smile has successfully helped change a child's life: My Name is Joseph
In addition to providing cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children worldwide, Operation Smile works under a sustainable model, as a non-governmental organisation to reduce the occurrence of cleft lips and palates worldwide; develop ambassadorships to raise awareness of cleft issues; sponsor a World Care Programme for international cases requiring special care; organise chapters and foundations worldwide to assist countries in reaching self-sufficiency with cleft surgeries; and develop and administer worldwide education programmes related to cleft issues.
Team PW are specifically running on November 5th, to raise as much money as possible to help as many children as we can, with cleft palate conditions, get immediate repair surgery.
For €240, one child can finally get that operation that will literally change their life. For €2400, we can book a surgery table for a whole day to operate on 10 children. We are aiming to raise enough money to operate on 60 children.
Please help us help them, in any small way you can; your gift today will help provide vital surgery to not only improve lives, but save lives.
Thank you massively in advance for your gift
