Due to an overwhelming show of support for #OperationPUSH we've blown past our original $1,200 goal. Within the last 72 hours alone we've raised over $2,000!
With this in mind we've decided to raise the fundraising goal to ($̶2̶5̶0̶0̶ met!) ( $̶3̶0̶0̶0̶ met!) ($̶3̶5̶0̶0̶ met!) $4000 going to support #OperationPUSH, logistics surrounding it, and communication and outreach with prisoners.
The Fight Toxic Prisons Crew
We are sending out a newsletter to 1000+ prisoners nationwide with a focus on the FL prisoners preparing to strike. This was created by the Campaign to Fight Toxic Prisons and the Gainesville IWOC.
We need your support to pull it off. Can you help us raise it quick?
$1,200 gets it printed and out the door. If 75 people kick in $16, we're there!
The primary motivation to get this out ASAP is to support an effort to spread the word widely inside about FL prisoners calling for a strike to kick off on Jan 15, MLK Day (named Operation PUSH by them)... So it is time sensitive to get it into prisoners' hands.
Along with word of the strike, we're also including content that provides context on national organizing happening around ending toxic prison slavery.
Here's a glimpse at what else is inside:
-Info on the new phosphate mine fight next to Lake Butler medical center prison complex in North FL
-Letters of struggle from active prisoners
-Updates on the Letcher prison fight in Kentucky
-A call for nationwide Juneteenth actions, from a TX prisoner
-An announcement for the 2018 FTP convergence
-Strategy from the Free Alabama Movement
-Health tips, including yoga poses and capoeira movements
-A little holiday season cheer!
Anything we make over the needed costs for this mailing will go into postage and printing for follow-up communication.
We are aiming to get newsletters like this out on a more frequent basis. Building community support is a first step.
Please kick in $16 and share this around.
