With bullying and teen suicide rates on the rise, something has to be done to keep the youth in our community safe, confident and surrounded with love. We not only provide a safe place where teens can come and just be themselves, but we also remind them daily that life has a purpose, they are on this earth for a reason, and they are loved and cared for. We are a faith-based, multi-denominational, non-profit, after school drop-in center in Washington, Iowa. We are open for teens ranging from 6th grade through young adult. Our vision that God has given us is to provide a facility where teens can come and spend time knowing they are safe. Our facility is substance-free, positive, and a healthy environment. We have zero tolerance for bullying in order to ensure everyone who comes here always knows that they are loved and accepted. We are dedicated to providing a wholesome alternative to existing recreation and entertainment choices, as well as encouraging, uplifting, and committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with teens and their families. Knowing that you can't feed the soul and the spirit without feeding the body as well, we offer an evening meal to all students Tuesday through Friday at no cost to them. We also offer faith-based counseling and education on how to cope with the trials in life and how to keep going when the world tells you to just give up.
We have MANY dreams for the future, but we must take care of the current needs of the center before the future dreams are pursued!
Many know that this building is very large and it takes a lot of time, effort and money to maintain it. Our current monthly operational costs add up to approximately $3942 per month. (Our electric/gas bill ranges from $500, when no heat or AC is used, to $1500 during an hot or cold month!) We are endeavoring to raise money for the next 6 months in order to help us finish out the year. We currently are receiving an average of $1280/month in monthly support. We need to raise an additional $2663 per month. This is a total of $15,978 to fund ONEighty for the next 6 months.
We would like to ask our friends, families, local businesses and churches across the country to help us in this endeavor to keep ONEighty open. We don't want to have to visit more young people in the hospital after they have tried to take their own life. We want to flood their hearts with love and confidence so it doesn't take a suicide attempt to show us that, to them, life really is that bad. Help ONEighty reach the teens in our community! No gift is too big or too small. Thank you to our current supporters, and thank you to those who want to join our support team! ONEighty can't do what it does without you!
