The Story

In October 2015 OBG was contacted by a breeder asking for help in rehoming 14 of her dogs at once due to a changing family situation. These dogs have had little or no documented vet care during their lives.

Last week, three OBG volunteers made the long trek to North Carolina and returned the next day with 10 - mostly senior - Cocker Spaniels and four surprises: two Yorkies and two Toy Poodles! OBG welcomed 10-year-old Bonnie, 10-year-old Clyde, 10-year-old T-Bone, 9-year-old Pippie, 13-year-old Trixie, 12-year-old Fritzie, 12-year-old Lucy, 12-year-old Choco, 8-year-old Ritzy, 4-year-old Esmerelda, 12-year-old Pattie, 11-year-old Truffles, 7-year-old Hershey GIrl and 8-year-Dallie.

As many of you know, OBG is still recovering from the Freedom 46 rescue which cost OBG over $75,000. OBG now needs YOUR help with the FALLtastic 14. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help OBG raise $15,000.00 for their medical care. As of now, they all need routine medical care which is $1000 per dog on average. We also know Bonnie, Clyde, Lucy and Pattie all have to see our eye specialist and appointments are scheduled for next week. We anticipate several of the dogs will need cataract surgery which costs approximately $2000 per eye. In addition, Clyde has tested heartworm positive (approximately $1000 for his treatment and we are waiting for the results of heartworm tests on the other dogs). Additional medical needs will be identified over the course of the week as the veterinarians complete their exams and test results are received. As you can see, $15,000 will just cover our initial costs.

Medical update on our sweet senior, Trixie?. She saw a special dental vet last Friday and ended up having to have all her teeth removed. But this little sweetheart is a trooper! Our vet reports she is doing extremely well and eating. YAY! She will be ready to rejoin her BFF, Fritizie, later this week and together they will begin looking for a forever home!

Please consider a donation to the FALLtastic fund in her name. Her expenses are well over $2000.

Check out Dallie! She has gone to a foster home to fully recover from her mammary cancer surgery and get ready for a second one in another month. But look at how great she looks (see cover video)! Like all the Cockers we know and love, she was looking for her dinner so we know she is feeling better! Way to Go, Dallie! Just a little more to go and a forever home will be yours.

Please consider a donations to Dallie's care. Here expenses will be well over $2,000.

We have a great pupdate on our little friends, Pippie and T-Bone. We are so happy to tell you they are doing well and today they joined a foster home in Maryland with the Rescue Me Yorkie Rescue. Special thanks to Joanne S for opening her home to them and helping get ready for a forever home next. Good luck to our adorable little friends. We are so glad we could be a part of your rescue and a second chance at a great life.
