North Star Rescue is a rescue for the often overlooked small animals, providing a safe space for hundreds of pet rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and chinchillas each year while they wait for adoption. Our animals come from a variety of situations, including shelters, owners surrenders, cruelty and neglect cases. We take in animals not just from shelters when they run out of time or space to keep them up for adoption, but also animals who have unique and urgent medical needs, or need specialized socialization to recover and learn to love humans after a life of neglect or abuse.
During the month of June, we're partnering with The Travelin' Rat to help raise money for our rescue, and you can help us make a huge difference for small animals! For example:
A donation of $25 provides food for a nursing mother rat and her 12 babies for one month!
A donation of $50 provides pellets, fresh fruits and veggies, hay and bedding for a pair of adoptable guinea pigs, or some of our senior guinea piggies receiving hospice care in our sanctuary program!
A donation of $100 will pay for a spay or neuter surgery, like a life-saving spay for a female guinea pig with ovarian cysts!
