Quadriplegic Starts Non-Profit To Inspire Others & Friends Bicycle 2,000 Miles for Mobility Awareness
Chase Treadway suffered a debilitating swimming pool injury in 2009. After Chase went skydiving he rediscovered his purpose - to help those with acquired disabilities rediscover the person inside.
Chase has since focused his energy through the Chase Your Dreams Foundation to help others overcome demoralization brought about by an acquired disability or illness, inspiring dignity and re-fulfillment for those who may have suffered a traumatic injury or illness. By helping those with acquired disabilities achieve a lofty goal and/or find fulfillment in daily life, the Chase Your Dreams Foundations strives to reinvigorate a sense of dignity in those that may have lost said dignity due to a disability. A persons dream is boundless, it could be skydiving or getting an education, there are no limits!
The DelURide is a music-oriented charity bike ride that aims to raise funds and awareness for the Chase Your Dreams Foundation by linking via bicycle our favorite bluegrass festival in Appalachia with our favorite bluegrass festival in the Rocky Mountains. The Ride will begin on May 25th from the 8th annual DelFest in Cumberland, Maryland, and finish no later than June 18th at the inception of southwest Colorado's 42nd annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
Funds will be raised through lump sum donations, sponsorship of mileage ridden, and corporate endorsement. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for our freind Chase & all those helped through the foundation. Up to 15% of funds will be used if needed to facilitate the sucessful completion of The DelURide.
Who are we? Charlie Wildman and Jeff Steckler are the organizers and the DelURiders of the DelURide. Chase has been a great friend and resource for this dream of ours. Steph Hyder has gifted us with her fantastic artwork and general support in this endeavor, and many other great people are involved in various capacities.
For those with the resources to donate. We suggest $.01/mile. That's $20 for the 2,000 mile journey. While that is only a suggestion we will gladly accept donations of any size. For those who can't contribute monetarily please take a moment to spread the word; facebook, twitter, word of mouth, etc...
By challenging ourselves (83 miles per day average!) and accomplishing our dream of riding across the United States and linking together our favorite bluegrass festivals, we will be giving those with disabilities the chance to accomplish their dreams and bring this philanthropy collaboration full circle.
