Designated as a 501 (c) (3) public charity, SokukoJi is a Buddhist group of dedicated meditation practitioners who devote their lives to helping and serving others. As many of you know, the practice of meditation involves having a community to provide support to each other as well as providing a base for outreach to a wider world.
In our work with inmates in Michigan prisons, those working with drug and alcohol abuse, and with those simply seeking help with the complexities of today's living, we have offered programs, meditation retreats, study classes, and services dedicated to providing a way to help all people live a more sane and uplifted life.
The natural progression of our community is to broaden our outreach to offer more programs, services, and classes to the public in a more culturally diverse, populated area. We have located a 3,600 square foot building that is handicap accessible, easy to get to, in a safe neighborhood that will allow us to have a temple and a meditation room. This new building would provide a space where we could nurture a loving community and further our vow of serving all beings.
We are asking for the greater body of meditation practitioners, anyone so moved to be part of our growth and development to give according to their heart and to share this page with all that may be interested in spreading this practice.
