Ariel is a 4 year old OTTB filly who is just a joy to be around. She was injured at the beginning of March after lacerating her left fetlock after a race, we still are not sure of the extent of the original cut and the initial care it received. She shortly became three-legged lame and has not put weight on the foot after the second week in March. She was not wrapped, kept on continual antibiotics, or pain medications as recommended by veterinarians. She did not even have a barn name when we took her in; however, Ariel is a very suiting name for her now. It is Hebrew for Angel of Animals and that is what she is. We were contacted about her by the owner wanting to surrender her, otherwise she would be euthanized. Ariel is getting constant care now, after 48 hours in the rescue she is bearing some weight on the leg and putting her foot down several times daily. We are fundraising for her radiographs, medications, several veterinary appointments coming up and potential surgery. Please help us save Ariel!
