Clark came to us from the Richland County Animal Shelter after being picked up as a stray on the street. We work with Richland County regularly and they contacted us knowing we'd have no problem finding a great home for the little guy...and we did!
That's the happy ending...what happened in between was a bout of mange that was treated with a commonly used medication that caused a case of blindness in Clark.
Poor puppy didn't know anything was wrong; he could still follow movement and voices and would happily chase balls and people...right into walls: ouch!
We promptly got him off the meds and into a foster home where he started to thrive and continued to heal...until out of nowhere he started throwing up violently and had to be taken into the emergency room.
All is well with Clark today - he is happy (and no longer vision-impaired) in his new home but our bank account sure took a hit: over $1000 in the emergency visit alone!
Combine the ER bill with the treatment for his mange and the normal costs associated with neuter and vaccinations and we spent nearly $1500 on preparing Clark for the rest of his life.
We'd do it all over again but need your help in raising necessary funds so that we never have to shy away from the tough cases and never have to worry about providing appropriate medical care for our dogs.
