Hello and Happy World Down Syndrome Day eve! (We celebrate on March 21st, or 3/21, to mark the tripling of the 21st chromosome that characterizes Down syndrome.)
Since I’ve last sent you an update, business has been booming! I’ve been busy speaking at local schools (I’ll be presenting at Molloy College tomorrow night); meeting new families, including our first basket of hope recipient on Long Island, Maeve, whom I got to hold and hug and celebrate in person; and connecting with this amazing community of ours that stretches from the local to the global. Thank you all for your support, for all the blankets you’ve knitted, baby books you’ve sent, and little onesies with inspiring messages written across the front you’ve mailed us.
We’ve now delivered over 340 baskets of hope to families in 45 states across the country. We’re overwhelmed by each of the stories we get to read from our basket recipients, and touched by each family’s hope, resilience, and the joy with which they celebrate the arrival of their new little ones!
To check out all the adorable babies with Down syndrome we’ve served, please follow along on my Facebook page or Instagram. Our social media stream is full of adorable little ones, smiling with their baskets of hope.
And, tomorrow, please remember to celebrate by spreading awareness about the individuals across the world who are creating, working, serving, and living their purposes—and who just happen to have Down syndrome. I encourage you to share my website or Facebook page with your own friends and family, giving a shoutout to the joy that’s possible when we believe in every person’s ability to blossom.
