The Story

Nomi the Great

Nomi is a typical happy Great Dane. She loves to cuddle and play with her foster siblings, and she loves to be the center of attention. Everyone who meets her falls in love, and there's a reason for it! She's a special one.

But there’s a problem

Nomi is the product of poor breeding practices, and as a result, she has a severe and unique deformity known as a lobster claw, or ectrodactyly. For dogs of Nomi's size, this is catastrophic and will shorten her life span considerably if we don't do something about it.

What needs to be done

Nomi needs a prosthetic. In order for her prosthetic to fit her better, she needs the useless, dangling toe remove from her deformed elbow. She also needs a spay and her teeth cleaned (her mouth smells like death!).

Here's what we're doing about it

We're teaming up with Animal Ortho Care to get her a prosthetic. This will reduce the stress on her front left leg and give her the gift of mobility and a long, happy life. We're also working with Lost River Animal Hospital for her spay, toe removal, and teeth cleaning.

Who are we

Shirley's Angels Boxer Rescue is committed to helping as many animals as possible. We rely on donations from our supporters to make sure the animals in our care get the help they need before sending them on to their forever homes. In this case, we need to raise $2000 as quickly as possible to get Nomi's weight off that front left leg. We thank you for your help!

The last donation to Nomi was 5 days ago :( BUT I'm hoping that means everyone is excited and trying to help choose the prosthetic colors for her! She really needs her toe removed, teeth cleaning, and her spay!

Hi friends! I've had a few people say things like "Why does she need a prosthetic? She moves just fine." The fact of the matter is: I tend to take pictures of her moving and acting fine, because those are the cuter and funnier pics. At the end of the day, she's in obvious pain. She moves slower, she's lower to the ground while she hops along, she DESPERATELY needs this prosthetic so that she's no longer in pain. At this rate, I'm worried that she's gonna have to be put down in two years because she's just going to be in so much pain. Here's a video I took last night that I wanted to show just how much it hurts sometimes.
