The Story

As our summer hosted meal on 9/11 was such a success, we are going to try and do it again for Christmas. Can you think of a better way to celebrate the holiday season than to give back to the military men and women who have served us.

To see a write up of the 9/11 event you can visit here: http://deniserobbins.blogspot.com/2016/09/four-friends-group-of-veterans-and-day.html and see photos of the dinner delivered to these brave men and women.

The New England Center and Home for Veterans (http://nechv.org/) is dedicated to ending homelessness for our Nation's Veterans.

NECHV implemented a program where a person or persons or organization can sponsor a meal for Veterans. Each year, NECHV serves over 100,000 resident meals. These sponsored meals are special in that these meals are not the standard fare served on a daily basis at the center. A gift of this fashion offers the opportunity to provide a unique and healthy meal to Veteran residents and connect with the population through direct service. The average cost for a sponsored meal is $1500.

It is no secret that receiving substantial nutrition is part of any recovery process, and your contribution helps to ensure that every Veteran gets back on their feet. Here’s your chance to help and thank these at-risk Veterans! Let’s provide a sponsored meal for Veterans as a way of saying, "Thank you for your service."

After all, if it were not for the men and women of our military you might not be eating that fabulous meal sitting in front of you right now with your family and friends.

Go raid that piggy bank, empty your change jar, and let's help more Veterans get a nice meal for the holiday season.

Some people call it the Season of Giving, but I call it the Season of Thanks.

I took every $5 bill I received and put it toward the effort of making certain our local Veterans had some much needed items this winter season. With the help of some friends and a wonderful organization I found called Warmth for Warriors who donated hand knit winter hats we managed to pull together 100 backpacks filled with toiletries, socks, winter hat, and food items for our at risk and homeless Veterans.

To see what we put together check out the latest pictures in the photo section of the campaign.

**The holidays are here and so is the season of giving. What better way to celebrate than give thanks. Give thanks to our heroes; our Veterans.

While you are out shopping for families and friends why not make a donation to our Veteran heroes. A terrific Christmas gift would be to make the donation in a family member’s name.

Good morning!
We are just a little over three weeks away to our Veterans Dinner on 9/11. We are working out the logistics as to what time is the actual dinner, what time to do we show up to help setup and bring dessert, soda, and 130 royal blue drawstring backpacks that have various toiletries and snacks inside. Check out the photo section of our fundraiser page. It's all very exciting!
