Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page! I have such a wonderful opportunity and a great privilege to serve people of Central America this year. About three years ago the Lord put a great desire in my heart to serve Hispanic populations. God graciously blessed me with necessary skills and provided with me lots of opportunities to serve in Central and South America. It has been nothing but a great blessing to volunteer for Christian Dental and Medical Association (CDMA), Global Health Outreach Program (GHO).
You may wonder, why Guatemala? Fairly recently I have met a missionary who serves in Guatemala. He was such a great inspiration and a final confirmation that this is exactly where I need to go.
According to CDMA, “Guatemala is the most populated and largest economy in Central America, but its rural population still lives in great deprivation. Many are excluded socially, economically, and politically due to language and geographical barriers and to a lack of education and economic opportunities. As a result, Guatemala has the worst ‘health outcomes’ and ‘health indicators’ in Latin America”.
Our team consists of 18 medical professionals from all over the United States. We will be serving the people of Cubulco, a small mountain town, about 5 hours by bus, North of Guatemala City.
We will provide the surgical services to the poorest people of Guatemala, victims of sexual abuse some of which have never seen a doctor in their entire life. Surgical cases will mostly include hernias, gallbladders, hysterectomies and adnexal surgery.
Over the last few years I have learned that every mission poses its challenges. Sometimes it's timing, family, finances, or other commitments that turn it into a major obstacle. However, every time God ends up taking care of all small details of the trip and opens up the doors in the areas where the doors did not even seem to be existent. This time around is not an exception. I have a big financial obstacle in front of me but I know that the Lord is already on the other side waiting to show his glory in my insignificant efforts.
Could you please pray for me and for all members of my mission team that everyone of us fixes his/her eyes on the Lord and not on the obstacles? Please do not feel obligated to donate anything unless the Lord have touched your heart and you have been led to do so. The purpose of this fundraising page is not necessarily to collect as much money as possible but rather to be used as a tool to glorify God's name in everything what I have or I don't have.
I am also planning a bake sale for the fundraising purposes the first week of May. If you have a sweet tooth or 32 sweet teeth like me, I will be more than happy to offer you a great variety of cookies. Details are coming up.
Thank you so much,
