Hi, my name is Mrs. Boytim and my second grade students are extraordinary! Not only are they dedicated, passionate, active learners they also spread kindness every day. Not only are core academics important to the overall well being of a child, their social and emotional development is equally important. Inspiring the minds of children is where the magic happens and greatness is born! Their self-esteem is lifted and are empowered by continuing the ripple effect in doing acts of kindness, no matter how small, and inspiring others to do the same. Developing a learning environment that is hands-on, supportive, and a safe place to take risks helps students to become life long learners because they are authentically passionate about learning, helping in their communities and the world around them. Everyday I am bless by their presence. My life is enriched because they inspire greatness within myself, to be better. My students like to dream big with goals in mind and question how to make things better or why things happen thus authentic learning takes place, research and inquiry happens. My students are excited to participate and learn in class because they feel empowered through learning, kindness and believing that big dreams are obtainable. Can you help us make our BIG DREAM come true? Please help support our dream in feeding severely malnourished children around the world by using UNICEF's Kid Power Band by getting active in and outside the classroom.
Kid Power Bands are sponsored by Star Wars Force for Change and Target stores.
UNICEF Kid Power gives kids the power to save lives by working together to help end global malnutrition. It is important for students to apply their knowledge from our Economics Unit about public and private goods and services, needs and wants, and scarcity. Our hearts are heavy about the fact that not everyone has food, children go hungry, some even die. Our class is compelled to do something! When we learned about UNICEF's Kid Power Band students wanted to change the world and make it a better place by fighting hunger! We want to actively do our part to help give severely malnourished children around the world a therapeutic food pack (RUTF packet). We want to help fight hunger one step at a time and help create brighter tomorrow for children around the world. Can you please help us raise funds to give each student in Mrs.Boytim's a Kid Power Band to help fight hunger and be active? DETAILS & INFORMATION:The UNICEF Kid Power Band is the world’s first wearable-for-good®.
By getting active with the UNICEF Kid Power Band, students go on missions to earn points and unlock therapeutic food packets for severely malnourished children around the world. The more kids move, the more points they earn, the more lives they save. Every 2400 steps made by a student will earn them 1 point, every 10 points unlocks funding from donors such as;Star Wars, Disney and allows UNICEF to then give a therapeutic pack of food to severely malnourished children around the world. The Kid Power Band needs to be linked to the UNICEF Kid Power App that keeps track of steps, resources, and totals how many children's lives we are helping by giving them food to nourish their body and minds.UNICEF Kid Power promotes fitness and global citizenship in the classroom.
The program consists of a teacher-led experience that leverages easy-to-use technology and standards-based curriculum including lessons, activities and games for keeping students inspired. We will be learning about other cultures around the world and how we are helping improve lives.By purchasing a classroom kit of 24 Kid Power Bands at the cost of $1000 it will give our class the following support:
If we exceed our goal of raising $1000 we will purchase UNICEF Kid Power Bands for other classrooms within Star Hill Elementary School and hopefully even other schools within Caesar Rodney School District. Moneythat isn’t enough to purchase a UNICEF Kid Power Band will be donated to UNICEF in Mrs.Boytim’s Class name. For more information and inspiration go to:

This is also meant to increases student’s self-esteem by feeling good about giving to others through their actions.Thank you in advance for your support and kindness in making our dreams come true by empowering us to help fight hunger and save lives!
