I know disaster has affected many people across many countries recently, and financial support has been spread thin. With that in mind, I am inspired by how many individuals contributed to this campaign (over 100), and how quickly we reached our goal.
I also know how much the community in Monteverde appreciates your contributions and support. Below is a note from one of the staff at Monteverde Community Fund.
On behalf of the Monteverde Community Fund- thank you to all those who organized and donated to this campaign. The Monteverde community has made quick progress in repairing roads and restoring basic services. However, there is still much work to be done in repairing damage done by Tropical Storm Nate, and your contributions will help make that work happen.
The Monteverde Community Fund (MCF) will use the funds raised in this campaign and through the organization to create a fund for short and medium-term reparation projects in the zone, with input from the local emergency commission and community. We will also leverage our annual Small Grants Program to support projects that contribute to Monteverde’s resilience to future emergencies and natural disasters. See here for more information about the MCF’s programs and to sign up for the newsletter, where we will keep you updated on the distribution of funds raised.
In addition, the MCF will continue to raise funds for storm relief through our partner, Amigos of Costa Rica. Any donations made are tax deductible in the US and will go directly toward addressing the impacts of this storm. We thank you for your contributions and for sharing this campaign!
