I didn't know much about Lyme disease until my good friend Molly contracted it close to three years ago. Since then, I've learned how debilitating this disease can be, and also how difficult and expensive it is to treat. Lyme has wreaked havoc with Molly's immune system, causing hypersensitivity to medications and supplements, as well as dangerously low numbers of antibodies for fighting infections. Her other symptoms are mainly neurological: memory problems, word confusion, poor balance, pain, fatigue, and insomnia caused by mini-seizures at night.
Molly tried to treat her Lyme and Bartonella, another tick-borne co-infection, with many rounds of antibiotics over two years, including intravenously for four months. There was some temporary improvement, but eventually her body developed allergic reactions to the drugs (as well as the herbs she tried), so she had to stop them.
Insurance mostly paid for her treatments while she was taking antibiotics, but she has been unable to take them for the past year, and has exhausted her savings experimenting with alternative approaches shown to have a good track record against Lyme. She has recently found two treatments that help, but are not covered by insurance: acupuncture to manage pain and other symptoms, and use of an electrical frequency generator (Rife machine), programmable with specific frequencies for killing bacteria. The least expensive way to do this therapy is to buy a machine and administer treatments at home, under the guidance of a Rife practitioner experienced with Lyme. Molly’s practitioner estimates that she'll need about a year of treatment, although it might be longer.
Would you consider making a donation to help cover the cost of the machine and acupuncture treatments? The ability to pursue effective and non-toxic treatment would mean so much to Molly after the suffering and frustration of the past three years.
$7,000 will cover the machine purchase and acupuncture treatments for a year. Every donation helps! For example,
- $15 = Phone session with Rife practitioner
- $35 = Detoxification treatment after bacteria-killing
- $60 = In-person consult with Rife practitioner
- $90 = Acupuncture treatment
- $150 = Purchase of encyclopedia/manual for using Rife
- $2,600 = Purchase of Rife machine
All funds go directly to Molly (minus about a 3% credit card fee this site takes). If you'd rather send her a check, please contact me for her mailing address (click the "contact organizer" button below). Donations are not tax deductible.
Thank you very much for considering this appeal, and please help by sharing it via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
