I want to share what we have been praying about and how the Lord has led me specifically lately. Since I have worked in most neighborhoods in St. John’s County the last two years I have gotten to know someone in most neighborhoods here. The county is experiencing record growth and growing pains and the estimated tourists that visit annually has gone from 3.5-5 million to 8 million in the latest projection! I do not have the time or strength to follow up working an exhausting job from 5:30 am to usually about 4 pm, sometimes later, occasionally, earlier. But I have had a lot of time to pray and seek direction. At the moment, I do some street witnessing and have a lot of good conversations 2-3 days a week when I’m downtown for a couple of hours on those days. I have not had time to set up and play music since we moved here, nor set up a table downtown. My plan is to rise early like I do now for work between 3:30 and 4:30, pray and seek the Lord’s direction for that particular day until I have a regular schedule. Somedays I will pick a neighborhood that I’ve picked up yard waste or recycling on that particular day, load the jeep with water and Gatorade and head out to walk and talk to customers, former co-workers, landscapers, etc. having drinks available to hand out and be ready to help anyone that is moving, working in their yard, etc. as the Lord orchestrates. I will park the jeep with the website on the back in the entrance of the neighborhood like a bill board. Some days I will go downtown with my guitar and literature downtown like I have in the past and either set up or walkaround and see where and how the Lord leads. Some days I will go to parks and play basketball and take croquet, frisbees, footballs, etc. to play with kids as well as bible and missionary stories to share with children I meet, likewise the beach and our neighborhood amenities. Other ideas from past experience include nursing homes, hospitals, jails, halfway houses and missions. I have Bibles and literature available and we will continue our Bible studies at home. I have many more ideas, but will see what doors the Lord opens. I am not knocking anyone that raises support before beginning a ministry, that’s how they were led. When I told one man that I was moving here without selling my house first, he told me that that was a different way to skin a cat and I have not heard from him since. I am trusting that the Lord will provide as He has for George Muller and others by asking Him only and making our needs known as the Lord leads and people ask. I am praying for others to join in, I do not expect to do this alone and will be taking Marsha and the children from time to time. I’ve had one brother already mention he may want me once in a while to work with him and I certainly am not opposed to that, but Jesus says the harvest is plenteous and the workers are few and to pray for Him to send workers. I’m just one of many believing that I should answer that call. Lord willing, Monday morning I will give my two week notice. My Proclaiming the Everlasting Gospel in Saint Augustine page will have daily updates. Please pray for us and yourselves that we may all do all we can to share the gospel while we are still here. Sharing the gospel and supporting gospel ministers is the only investment that is valuable now and more importantly forever!
