My name is Shahrzad Kojouri, but everyone calls me Shaz. I'm a Philly attorney who took a big leap of faith and step into the fight against Sex Trafficking. I left my job in May 2013 and accepted a one year unpaid Legal Fellowship with International Justice Mission (IJM).
As my year with IJM came to a close I was offered an opportunity to work for Hagar (an IJM partner organization). I have accepted the role of Legal and Protection Advisor for 6 months, while the person in the role currently is on maternity leave out of the country.
Hagar serves women and children (both boys & girls) who have survived the most extreme cases of human rights abuse like sexual exploitation, rape, trafficking for labor and forced work, domestic violence and acid attacks. I’m very excited about this opportunity to bring my previous experience as a general counsel advisor together with the skills I’ve learned at IJM to be an advocate for the victimized. I’m also eager to learn new skills and further serve the people of Cambodia.
Why do I need help?
My work here has been as a volunteer and I need to cover my living expenses.
Thank you for reading this and any support you are able to give. If you are unable to give a financial donation, please keep me, IJMs, and Hagar in your prayers. And especially pray for the millions of victims waiting for light to come into their darkness.
