The summer of 2014 marks the beginning of a journey one year in the making. In the summer of 2013 a group of students and leaders stepped out of a terminal into Dublin International Airport. Throughout the ten day mission trip lives were changed, relationships were built, and souls were won. It was during this time that the Lord began to stir in the hearts of four individuals on the trip. As each day passed it became increasingly evident that their time spent in Ireland was only a glimpse of what God had in store. When it came time to depart, these four people knew deeply that the summer of 2013 was not the last time they would see the rolling green hills of Ireland and the bright smiling faces that called it home.
IRELAND TRIP 2014 ITINERARY
First week of ministry, June 10-20: Our team will be working with Christian Youth in Action (CYA) in Cork, Ireland. We will start each day with a daily Bible study and morning devotion led by Dublin based pastor, Mike Neglia. Following each morning session will be a time of preparation for our daily CYA outreach camps. These children’s clubs will consist of visiting the neighborhoods of Cork on a daily basis. During these camps we will invite any and all local children to join us in learning a memory verse, singing a new song, and diving into a Bible lesson together. There is also a strong emphasis on engaging with teens and parents.
Ministry in Galway, June 21-27: We will be continuing our CYA outreach by partnering with a local church four hours west of Cork in Galway, Ireland. This week will be spent out in the local neighborhoods with an aim to help grow the church and encourage the local youth to become involved in church outreaches.
Training camp week, June 28-July 4: From Galway we will be traveling two hours north to Donegal, Ireland where we will be attending a Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) summer outreach training program. This training program is designed to equip young people from all over Ireland with practical tools and wisdom for many facets of summer ministry. This week will give us a good background of all the ministries we will be involved in throughout our summer in Ireland.
Week of rest, July 6-12: During this week we will be resting and preparing for the main stretch of our trip in Ireland. Our time will be spent in the Word and in prayer for the students whose lives will be changed this summer. We will also do some sightseeing and adventuring. After all, it is Ireland.
Ministry in Dublin, July 13-19: This week we will be in inner city Dublin working with disadvantaged youth. Our team will be participating in two outreaches, a CYA style children’s ministry outreach and an urban art outreach aimed towards underprivileged teenagers. There will be many opportunities for divine appointments and life changing moments throughout our period in Dublin.
July 20th we arrive back in Cork. For the next month we will be serving as camp councilors along with 10-15 other leaders from the Greater Cork Area. These camps are split into 4 segments, each segment aimed towards a specific age group.
Segment 1, July 20-26: Teen camp (14-17 year olds)
Segment 2, July 27-August 1: Junior A camp (8-9 year olds)
Segment 3, August 3-8: Junior B camp (10-11 year olds)
Segment 4, August 10-15: Intermediate Camp (12-13 year olds)
For many of these students, summer camp is the only true exposure to the gospel they will receive. Although a large portion of camp will be spent playing games and enjoying the outdoors, our main focus and mission remains making Christ’s name known to the children and young adults of Cork, Ireland. We are so excited to partner with you in prayer as we prepare for this massive undertaking. Your financial aid and spiritual support as well as humbling words of encouragement propel us forward towards the calling God has placed in our lives. Simply put, it is an honor to serve with you as we embark on our journey.
