I have been given the opportunity to lead a service learning trip to the Dominican Republic this January!! I will be joining 13 students on a week long trip to Las Terrenas. While there, we will be volunteering at Fundacion Mahatma Gandhi and will spend the week doing various tasks such as working with children, tutoring English, assisting with small building projects, visiting the elderly and learning about issues in the community.
Since this is a volunteer trip, we are responsible for all costs associated with the trip (flight, gas to and from the service site, food, housing, and donations to our service site.) The cost per person is just shy of $1,000. In order to offset this cost, I am asking you for any financial support you may be able to give. Any donation is appreciated!
If a financial donation is not an option for you, there are other ways you can help support me! The first way is through donation of new or gently used toys/books for children 10 years of age or younger and/or wrapping paper! Since we will be arriving during the week of the Festivities of the Three Kings, (which is when they celebrate santa!) we have the opportunity to be Minnesota Santas for a day!
Even if you are unable to donate any money, toys/books, or wrapping paper, please mark your calendar for the week of January 7th through January 14th and say a special prayer for our group. I look forward to the week of volunteering for my own personal and spiritual growth, as well as the opportunity to help those in need. When I return, I would love to share pictures and stories with you. If you are interested in hearing about my trip or if you have any questions, please feel free contact me!
