The Story

The Department of Veterans Affairs has stopped issuing Irene Miller her pension checks because they say they overpaid her for years. Now she needs to pay them back. And in the mean time until it is paid back they stopped all her checks, leaving her no income to pay her monthly bills.

This is absurd!  They claim she owes $26,000.00 - how do they expect her to pay anything back if her only income source has been stopped?  Miller lives alone with her dog Penny and is confined to a wheel chair.  She relies on the VA checks she gets monthly to pay the rent.

Ms. Miller spent her time in the service as a Navy storekeeper third class.  She served at a time when women were not drafted so she willing sacrificed and gave so much for our country, we hope that in her time of need you can help us please raise enough funds to keep a roof over her head and food in her and her dogs belly while we help her get things straightened out with the VA.  Unfortunately, she doesn't have anyone helping her with the paperwork and doesn't have access to a fax or even know how to use one to respond to the VA.

You can get her full story here: http://news3lv.com/news/local/vet-rip-off

Thank you Channel 3 News and Antonio Castelan for running the story and getting us in touch with her so we can get her the help she needs.

Attention fellow patriots and prayer warriors! Your help is needed.
I'm sure most of you have heard of (or read about) our WWII Navy veteran, Irene Miller, and the challenges she is facing with the VA/VBA in regards to her pension checks. This situation has been rectified, thanks to the valiant effort of Mike Edwards and a team if us patriots.   We are now facing a new challenge and this is where your prayers are very much needed and appreciated. Some of you might already be aware that our lovely Irene suffered a heart attack last Friday. She is recovering from this rather well but we just found out that recent tests showed spots on her lungs and the doctor fears that it is lung cancer. She will be getting a CatScan today to determine if the doctor was correct. I spoke with Irene about the power of prayer and she firmly believes that prayer is indeed powerful! She gave me permission to post this picture and ask that you all pray for her strength and recovery. Let's go, Patriots! Let's show Irene how powerful our prayers and well wishes are! I will be reading your messages to her today!
(Irene insisted on wearing her Navy hat for this pic!)

We have been working non-stop the past few days on getting Ms. Irene Miller’s living situation secured as well as straightening this horrible mess out with the VA. Today after many phone calls, we have been assured that her bill with the VA is squashed and her monthly entitlements will start back up again less the $22.00 a month that started this whole ordeal. This is a huge win!!!

However; until we receive this all in writing and her monthly checks start being deposited again we will continue to accept donations and pay her outstanding rent and bills and take care of any other needs she may have. We also hope to give her and Penny a little cushion so they have piece of mind because they definitely deserve it:) We are overwhelmed with all the love and support and would like to thank Antonio Castelan Channel 3 News for bringing Ms. Irene’s story to our attention. For if it were not for all of you, we could not make helping her possible!

Donations are still being accepted here.

You can also drop donations in an envelope addressed to: Ms. Irene Miller c/o Pirate Mike at the Leatherneck Club,
4360 Spring Mountain Rd
Las Vegas, NV 89102

We met with Ms. Irene Miller today and with the help of D'Nese Davis from Life After Active Duty we were able to give a $500.00 good faith payment toward bringing Ms. Irene's rent up to date.  We still need $4,000 more just for rent so any bit will help.
