The Story

Sometimes in life, bad things happen to great people with the purest of hearts to help others and they are themselves confronted with a bigger than expected life challenge.

Finding out your wife has an aggressive cancer and needs chemotherapy ASAP is never easy. She's not of age for that yet, there's no history of breast cancer like this in her immediate family. What gives? It happens, we accept it. We have faith. We move forward.

Those who know her closely and wholeheartedly, understand that my wife has never been the one to back down from any challenge. She has always offered the best help she could provide. Everyone is family to her.

Educated, deeply compassionate, and simply gorgeous, Michelle has that deep felt emotion and radiant smile that makes me feel like I can do anything. I can and I will she always reminds me.

She has the power to reveal the hearts of everyone she touches, her family, her close friends and complete strangers. Michelle is an experienced highly-skilled nurse (CHF RN case manager) and a valuable part of the cardiology team at Kaiser Permanente in Downey,California. She needs to fight through this and get back to helping her patients. She must.

Behind the scenesfor over a decade on-and-off, Michelle put herself (and her body) through countless hormone treatments, accruing numerous expenses (in hopes of finding an answer that comes so easily for others, pregnancy) and undergoing infertility three times in the hopes of something for us, but nothing. Enter invasive lobular breast cancer (ILC) with an earlier diagnosis of stage four endometriosis this year and we're off to the races.

Michelle has never stopped educating, encouraging and loving everyone around her to live like tomorrow was never promised, to leave everything on the table, to see the world and enjoy the ride. I love her strength and love of life. It's contagious.

Much Respect, Light and Love from the Nartea family to yours. Early palpation detection and mammography testing will not catch ILC. It only affects 10% of those ladies diagnosed with breast cancer each year. We encourage those ladies going through their routine breast examinations that find an abnormal growth to immediately opt for a tissue biopsy for malignancy examination. Diligence over the years has caught Michelle's just in time. During this last IVF round, we were clearing her health when we discovered a malignant tumor of 4 cm (currently 6cm) in her right breast. I hope that our small story will help us help others in our life journey. With your help, we will get through this.

We understand we are not alone. Thank you in advance for your help. Sometimes even the biggest things come from the smallest of packages.

I cordially invite you to donate in support of Michelle Nartea in creating Breast Cancer Awareness and continuing our efforts in providing high-quality Functional Movement Education. I will personally include a complimentary copy of my book Movement is Medicine for a Reason|The Art & Science of a Mindful Movement Practice with Kettlebells

Michelle has been so thankful again for all the support and number of subscribers thus far. We would love for you all to continue to share her story.

She recently completed her 2nd Chemotherapy treatment this past Friday and is progressively feeling the effects of the drugs (nausea, bone aches, tired). She wanted me to tell you all to continue to pray for her and that she is fighting her hardest although it all "SUCKS" to her at times.

I wanted to invite and remind you ALL of the Event that I have organized in honor of Cancer Survivors and Fighters Everywhere. Let's let  them know that they are never alone.

Please consider joining us on   NOV 12 | Together We Fight Against Cancer.  It will be a FUN night of Breast Cancer Awareness live reggae entertainment by Pacific Noize Reggae, and ongoing Raffle Drawings. Please find the link below to RSVP for this event.

We hope to see you there!
