The Story

My sweet baby Sophie is a 5 year old female pug; she has an elongated palette and needs to have a soft palate resection and nare surgery to open up her pinched nostrils...Her breathing is scary. I'm desperately seeking any and all help for her.  Her surgery could be from 2000 to 2700.00 in Spring Hill at Blue Pearl Animal Hospital. With a 119.00 charge for consultation.  So that is where the 3000.00 comes from that I am seeking.  I am looking for options, ALL options.   It is breaking my heart to even think like this because she is my baby and she is SO dependent on me. I can't even go up to the bathroom without her freaking out and making her breathing worse; so she goes with me. So I don't even know if it is even a viable option to allow her to go to a rescue that could fund her surgery. Even thinking like that brings me to tears.  I will be adding a video in the next day or so.  If you are unable to help financially, please share my link and say a prayer for her and me to find a way to make this surgery happen.

A little about our situation that keeps me from being able to just come up with the funds to do this without hesitation.  When I was able to work I began rescuing dogs.  I have always loved the breeds of dogs with these adorable smooshy faces.  So when we were given the opportunity to become a forever home for a pair of pugs that had been together all of their lives we jumped at it.  The female was VERY pregnant so we knew we were gaining not just 2 dogs but those 2 plus the pups she had.  We placed them all in homes when they were weaned and had first shots aside from Sophie.  She has been with me from birth.  She slept on my shoulder during her first months, in my lap or beside me since.  She was what kept me partially sane through my mother's illness and death.  She also was my therapy dog during my own health crisis.  All of the pups we placed has since came back to us because that was one of the conditions that if they ever had to be re-homed they would come back to us.  We have also taken in other pugs and small breed dogs that were in some pretty terrible situations.  Understand that at the time I was working full time making decent money and working toward a Master degree in mental health counseling.  I felt with my husband and daughter both at home due to their own disabilities that this would be a great home for these dogs that were unwanted or in dire circumstances.  Unfortunately in 2012 a month before my mother passed away I became totally disabled.  Between working upwards of 80 hours a week at times plus attending grad school and caring for my ailing mother my own health took a huge nosedive.  I really never expected to not be able to work up until past retirement age.  I have an awful time of asking for help so taking this step has truly found me at rock bottom.  I am willing to do whatever it takes to get Sophie the care she needs so I humbly ask for help.  Help me help my baby.  Please.

I am copying all of the updates frm facebook. Sorry i am on my phone. Please pray. After driving more than 12 hours to get here we had to rush Sophie to the emergency vet. She is on oxygen.

We got Sophie to the hotel from emergency vet and after being sedated and with a steroid shot to take the swelling down she finally settled and started breathing semi normal for her and she finally slept. This morning the surgeon said he was all abt being aggressive with surgery but felt she couldn't take going under anesthesia. She was in tachycardia last night at ER. He gave her another steroid shot and is going to give us a sedative for the road plus 1 at the office. We are going to rest her and us tonight and tomorrow and start back Wed. Please pray for her. I've been a big baby and cried all morning so now I've got to get it together so she does not pick up my sadness and anxiety. Im sorry i am typing this from my phone so it may not make any sense or be full of typos. Ill try to answer any questions. But this is all i hve on my mind right now.

Had a decent amount of rest. Sophie is still a bit anxious. Today's the day many in the world is anxious to see what the American people decide on a leader. Either way people, vote. It is our right to decide. I know the choices are so scary and flawed. But vote. Personally, I can't stand either of the front runners. I chose to vote with my heart and tried to make peace with my choice. I may have wrote in a vote that will be considered a throw away. But i followed where my heart was. God help us all. If you are a praying person please pray for our Country. Also, pls continue to pray for my sweet baby. I am so grateful for all of you. Your prayers and thoughts and donations. Love you all.

This morning:  Just got a call from the vet. They want us there at 7 am tomorrow. Since she's rested so well he said prepare for surgery. I am nervous, grateful - Yet I am concerned for many reasons. First, we can't afford to stay until Friday. Which would be how long Dr. Short wanted us to stay after. Secondly, the trip back is still a concern if he can sedate her well enough i think things will be fine. But if she's not sedated well with her reaction to anxiety is to pant. We know how it affected her breathing without a fresh surgery. Please pray with me that us and the dr. Make a decision best For Sophie.

Post from my sister this morning. For those who know my sister Michelle Perryman-Ford Copley know we both have been in rescue for quite sometime now..several years back she adopted a pair of bonded pugs and Momma Pug (Shanie) was forward they kept the liter and had each fixed and extremely well cared for and loved, the one who bonded with Chelle the most is Sophie..we can't leave a room without Sophie she panics without Chelle and tbh its a mutual thing ;)
Sweet Sophie has a face\nasal area that is basically MORE compressed than most and struggles to breathe, so they got Sophie to WV at Deer Park to have this life saving surgery and Sophie had to be rushed to the emergency vet and all the money they had raised and saved was spent saving her life.. The vet now is confident she can now have the surgery but they are in DIRE need of funding...receipts can be shown to verify this is legit I beg of you plz share this post and or donate ANY amount you can...anything is greatly appreciated, and please continue to PRAY...her Paypal is : [email protected]
My sister is disabled as is my brother in law, he is a disabled veteran so money is very tight.
Thank You and God Bless!!!

I am also uploading pictures of notes and reciepts from emergency vet. as well as another video from this morning of her resting.

I know I am probably driving you all crazy with my incessant sharing of this fundraiser. I truly would love to be able to send a goodly amount to some other rescues. We have managed to raise enough for her surgery and for that I am SO very grateful to you all.  But PLEASE if you can pls keep sharing and encouraging donations as I would DEARLY love to help these 2 rescues and our local humane society.  Anyone that knows me knows how passionate I am about animal rescue.  Again, I can not express in mere words how grateful I am for everyone's donations and sharing.  I know some people have voiced that they were not familiar with WePay but I think you can use paypal and if you'd rather I am including my paypal  [email protected] I honestly am SO blessed by all of your generosity.  I can't wait to share recovery pictures and videos!

I can not thank you all enough! There are NO words to express how grateful I am.  We could use a few prayers if you will.  We go tomorrow to try and get the rest of the money for her surgery.  I have also added several more pictures and a video of her breathing.

here is the link to the youtube video in case it doesn't show up
