So, while normally I am a very active and independent and proud disabled person (creative activist and believer that another world is possible), for the past month +, after having a nasty medical setback (involving dysphagia, further spine damage and a benign brain cyst growth spurt on my cerebellum), I've needed home health aides to help me live in my home.
Medicare (my insurance) only covers things temporarily/short term care, so my mom has been paying out of pocket, as I fought to get stronger. And I was. We had less hours. I had plans to take back my life.
Then for some reason, I had a setback within a setback and now need even more home health aide hours for safety reasons, including sometimes at night which alone is $200 per night (which as you can imagine really adds up). I try to go without when I can but it's just not safe at this point (I am prone to falling and downright not being able to move, as well as cognitive impairment), but neither my mom nor I are wealthy and while we are looking into medicaid coverage, in the meantime, here we are: choosing between safety and what we can afford, which no one should have to do.
And so I am raising money to help pay for the costs for the increase in hours. Please help if you can. Even a dollar helps out
