The Story

Tragedies come in many forms, but they are always devastating to those affected. Meghan Rowland is living such a tragedy now and desperately needs help, both emotional and monetary.

Early Tuesday morning, November 29, Meghan and her twin daughters, Alex and Samantha, were sleeping peacefully in their mobile home in Chico, California, when a fire broke out. The mobile home was completely destroyed and 4 year old Samantha died.

Meghan was able to escape with Alex, but nothing else was saved. She has nothing left but her surviving daughter and the nightclothes they were wearing. Meghan is a hard working low income single mother who has lost all of her material possessions and is facing the most devastating loss a human being can face, the loss of a beloved child.

Meghan is completely dependent on the support of family and friends for clothing and shelter.

Please help.

I would like to thank everyone for their donation…many of you I have never met before but
want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us get back on our feet. The
response has been overwhelming but very much appreciated.

I am glad to announce that we now have a new home in Chico, thanks to the many donations
from all of you. It’s small but exactly what we need right now. Alex is getting ready to go back
to school and I will be going back to work in few days. It’s a new beginning for us and it could
not have happened without all of you and your generosity. We will forever be grateful for all of
you.

Once again, thank you.

The overflowing support from family, friends and our community for Meghan and her family has been truly amazing and I want to thank you all for everything you have done to help them during this difficult time.

We have received some donations for household items and have been asked to put up a more up to date list of items still needed. This is a list that I quickly put together based off of the items we have already received, if you can think of any other items needed to be replaced after an accident like this, you are more than welcome to donate those as well or email me to make sure we dont have those items already.

I want to thank each and every one of you for the tremendous amount of love and support being sent to the family during this difficult time.

We are getting a lot of emails and messages asking what items the family needs and where to take donations. As of right now they have received a lot of clothing for both Meghan and Alex and a lot of toys for Alex as well. They do not want to accept more than they need, especially when there are so many other families in need this time of year. If you have any more clothes or toys to donate they are asking that they be donated to the charity of your choice to help other families in need.

As far as household items, they have a storage unit that has been donated to store items until they are ready to furnish a new home.
We have a bed and bedding for Alex being donated. We have a couch, love seat and throw pillows being donated. A set of bowls and plates have been donated.

Here is a list I quickly put together of other household items they will be needing in the future. If you have already donated any of these items to one of the other places collecting donations let me know and I will remove it from the list. I can collect donations at my house this Saturday. The best way to contact me is though email at ericmichaels@gmail.com, I will reply back as soon as I can to work out a time to have the donations dropped off.
