Megan is a newly single mother to 3 incredible kids. She is a USN Veteran, who has for years given herself to serving others. After years of trying, she was finally able to bravely get her kids and herself away from a non-ideal situation. It took a lot of humility, struggling to find a home, a job and a decent school situation for her very special needs son, Cole. She quietly bore the weight of this major life change until she found a home to call their own.
Shortly after she finally let friends know of these huge life changes, Cole ended up on the hospital (9/6). About a week and a half later he was taken back for surgery. The following excerpt was taken from a post by Megan:
"Cole was born with two rare chromosome disorders. Deletion 22Q13 and trisomy 9. He as many medical issues due to these conditions. ex. Autism, global developmental delay, cannot regulate his body temperatures, seizures, one kidney, kidney disease, and reduced brain matter, hypo tonic cerebral palsy, this is just a few. He is a happy boy, but struggles in public and social settings."
During his surgery yesterday, Megan discovered her estranged spouse had her car repossessed. Inside was Cole's wheelchair. On her own, with 3 children (one hospitalized) and a new job, this can only be described as a nightmare.
Many of us begged her to allow us to help, being to far away to do much else but fundraise. Ideally she needs a gas- decent van, to fit Cole, his wheelchair, her two daughters and Cole's amazing service dog Cora. $5000 is very low, but right now she even just needs something temporary, to get her through, help her keep her job, and be able to survive.
If you've ever been a single parent or braved the exit of an abusive relationship or a parent to a special needs kiddo, surely you can understand the magnitude of what she is going through and will help! Thank you so much!
