My name is Oliver Allen and I was diagnosed on January 10, 2013 with B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I was barely 17 months old when my mom and dad were given this unexpected news. I had been sick for a couple weeks prior to this, bilateral ruptured ear drums were taking the blame for my constant high fevers, lack of energy, and fussiness. I visited the doctors office 5 times within those 2 weeks, they switched my antibiotic 3 different times, hoping that would get rid of my nasty infection. Nothing worked. Finally I spiked a fever of 105 and my daddy knew something had to be done so he brought me into the ER, my mom was waiting for us when we got there. We had a very long stay in the ER, blood tests revealed some very low, very scary results. We were sent to the University of Iowa and I was admitted to the Oncology/Hemotology unit immediately. My mommy and daddy say that the next couple of days were the longest, hardest, scariest, most heartbreaking days of their lives. I was admitted on a Wednesday morning, and by Friday I was in surgery having my port placed and received my 1st dose of chemo that very same day. I have been on my journey to recovery for a couple of months, these months haven't been easy and I have a long road ahead of me, at least 3 years, but I have every intention of beating this cancer!
My mom and dad have had to take a lot of time off of work, my treatments and time at the hospital all cost money, not to mention all of the prescriptions that I've had to and will have to have. Please help ease the stress and worry of these costs for my parents by donating to my fundraiser. I can't thank you enough and my parents appreciate all of the help so much.
