The Story

For the past 20 months, we have been trying to get pregnant. After countless doctors appointments, blood tests, ultrasounds, and everything else you can think of, we have decided to pursue IVF (in vitro fertilization).

Unfortunately, our insurance offers no coverage for this extreme measure and we are being forced to rely upon our own funds and the generosity of those who love us.

We have been incredibly grateful for the love and support our community has already offered to us through meals, phone calls, text messages, and prayer. Some of our closest friends have encouraged us to seek financial support from our friends and family.

Our target goal for funding is $5000-$15,000, depending on if we need to do the procedure once or twice. Any donated funds that exceed our IVF costs will be placed in a fund for another couple who has faced infertility, but wants to grow their family (through adoption or IVF).

Through discernment and prayer, we have come to this place and feel that God is still pushing us forward. We never imagined in a million years that we would be at this point, but after almost 2 years of infertility, we don't know what else to do.

If you are interested in supporting us financially, you can donate on this website.

The wait finally has seemingly come to an end! On Friday morning, around 11am, one of our beautiful little embryos will be unfrozen and transferred on over to Sarah. This has process has been incredibly frustrating and riddled with new information, things I never wish I knew, and learning to expect the unexpected.

Sarah's nightly intramuscular oil-based injection in the hip/buttocks that are administered by me are definitely her least favorite thing that we get to do together. Its only been a couple days of the nightly injection, but I am already a pro, and sadly for Sarah, will get much more practice over the next 3 months (if we get pregnant). And yet, she doesn't complain, takes it like a champ, and just keeps moving forward. We have 5 frozen embryos and feel that we have a pretty fair chance of getting pregnant at some point. The hardest part will just be the waiting if the first one doesn't work. We are consistently amazed by how our friends and family who have supported, cared for us, and even been angry at God with us. There are people who have brought us meals, showed me how to do injections, and just sat alongside us and cried. This has been the longest 2 years of my life and our deepest longing is just for an end to the waiting.

Please pray for us on Friday if you think of it. We will be letting people know the results sometime in November. We will either be celebrating with our community of friends and family, or mourning together. Either way, you are along for the ride.

Our retrieval yesterday went fairly well. We were able to have 7 eggs retrieved. We expected a few more, but our results so far are the same as last time and it is about as good as we can ask for. Sarah recovered well and is feeling upbeat about our prospects. We still have quite a ways to go and the next week is certainly going to be intense. We should know how our embryos are doing next week sometime before they are frozen. The next two days are incredibly important for their development. They need to grow symmetrically and at a moderate and steady pace.

Thank you for all the prayers and support. These children are already the most beloved and we hope and pray that we get to meet them someday.
