The Story

On Tuesday, April 23rd Rebecca was walking to an after school function, and she was hit by a truck while she was crossing the road.

That night, she underwent surgery to remove her spleen.  Becca has suffered several broken bones.  She still has several surgeries to undergo, one of the most crucial being fission and fixation on her cervical spine to the back of her head. Doctors are still conducting tests, and they aren't sure of the extent of the damage.  Becca is currently in a medically induced coma, but she has fluttered her eyes, and seems to be responding and hearing those around her.

Please keep Becca and her family in your thoughts and prayers, as she has a long way to recovery. Although some of us are also struggling financially, it would be incredibly helpful if you could donate even a small amount. $5, $10, $15, etc.- there is no amount too small!  Any amount of monetary donations are appreciated and welcomed.

Thank you!

Rebecca has been doing much better.  She is actually on Facebook and YouTube and navigating on her own. She had a great physical therapy session this morning and she has been breathing on her own all day. Still has a trach to breathe through but we are one step closer to getting off for good. Thank you for all the prayers and I am so incredibly grateful for this fabulous moment!!

Hey Family and Friends....please like Rebecca's Page and leave her messages of love and support. She is going through so much right now and really needs, not only your prayers, but she needs to know how much she is loved and that she can do this!!!

Becca is a miracle in so many ways!!!

The doctors were able to get the feeding tube into Becca's abdomen.  There are no more tubes on her face.  Becca is down to 3 tubes and an IV.  Her spirits are a little down, as one might imagine.  We are staying the course and trying to remind her this is a temporary situation.  She is in quite a bit of pain, and the doctors are working on solutions to make her more comfortable.  They are saying she will move out of ICU on Friday.  She will then be on the third floor, here, at St. Joesph's hospital.  One step closer to home.

Rebecca did pretty well this morning until they had me leave the room. She started to panic and so they decided they will go ahead and try again tomorrow to remove her breathing tube. We are all truly blessed and know there are times that we don't understand why things are happening, nor do we understand why we can't get things fixed or have a solution right away. Please remember that things happen in the Lords time and now ours....I have faith that all will be well! I love my beautiful baby girl with all my heart and I will do what it takes to help her.....even if for now it is just my voice and my prayers! Thank you all so much for staying with us....for prayer for her and our family! We feel the prayers, LOVE and support and that is what is helping to get through this challenging time! I am so blessed, Becca is blessed, and we are eternally grateful!!!

My friends, they are trying to wean Rebecca off the respirator tomorrow. Please pray for her to have the strength, patience and peace to be able to breathe on her own. If they are unable to do this, she will have to have a tracheotomy. I know she can do this....she just needs some help! Thank you my friends!!! I love you all and truly appreciate you!

Just saw Becca. She opened her eyes for me again. I said "how are you Boo Boo?" And she shrugged her shoulders. It was so amazing. The nurse couldn't believe it!!! She did a pouty face too and cried. It broke my heart. But it was beautiful.

Yesterday, Becca had surgery on her cervical spine and the back of her head.  Doctors said that the surgery went well.  After surgery, Becca was responsive and even opened her eyes.  Today, Becca had surgery on her left leg and her right ankle.

The family appreciates all the prayers that are being sent their way.

Thank you!
