I met scarlette's mom from my Gymboree addiction, and have followed their family for at least 2 years! In all of this time i have never seen her be anything but positive and thankful for the life she leads! I asked Nicole (scarlette's mommy) to write a little summary of sj's history to fill you all in. Here is her story:
"Scarlette is our (almost) 3-year-old miracle. She was born on September 9, 2009 in Washington D.C. Originally diagnosed with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, that is, when the diaphragm doesn't form fully a
nd the organs become displaced and affect lung function, we quickly realized that was not the extent of her health issues. She was also diagnosed with a cleft palate, multiple heart murmurs, kidney reflux and a chromosomal deletion. Scarlette has had 6 surgeries, with an upcoming 7th, including diaphragmatic hernia repair, g-tube placement as she cannot eat by mouth, and open heart surgery. She goes through therapy for 5 hours a week and is very delayed in her motor skills.
That is background information to help you understand Scarlette's medical conditions, but that is NOT my Scarlette. My Scarlette is sweet, she's kind and gentle and loving. She has the most beautiful giggle, and above all she's an incredible blessing. She may not be able to walk, or talk, communicate with us or even sit very well, but she is a miracle and has overcome so much in her little life. She has touched so many people, people who I could not have gotten through the last three years without! I thank God every day for my little miracle, but I also thank Him for the support network that He has continued to bless me with. Thank you all for loving our sweet girl as much as we do."
*******************************************************I am asking for donations to get Scarlette a zipZac chair (which can be viewed here http://myzipzac.com/)This chair would be amazing for princess scarlette! She would be able to move about at the level of a crawler and would also be able to reach all of her toys! The best thing about it, is that she would be able to interact with her sweet sister (a crawler) and not have to look down at her from her big chair! We will be getting the ZipZac 2 with head rest. Please if you can donate to help this sweet girl out! I am hoping that we can raise above and beyond the cost of this chair to help the family with some of their other expenses! If you have any questions or concerns please contact me!! Thank you so much!!
