Craig Gibson had a heart transplant November 23, 2009. After 24 years of suffering heart failure, Craig recieved a heart transplant at the Cleveland Clinic. The experience was a rough one but at the same time it was an incredible gift and definitely a miracle. We thank God every day for this blessing and for his new chance at life. Unfortunately this all happened during the financial crisis and Craig lost everything, but he gained his health. He has been struggling with unpaid medical bills and $4,000 a month drug expenses. he has been able to take advantage of various plans to defer his drug costs. But now he has to rely on Medicare. Because he does not qualify for extra help to pay for his medicare premiums and his extra drug costs, he will have a shortfall of $7,300 a year. These drugs are necessary to keep Craig alive and they are very expensive. He also has $35,000 in unpaid medical expenses related to his transplant. Our goal is to raise a few years cushion to pay his medicare costs plus his past due medical bills. This comes to just under $60,000.
Craig's only income is a $713 social security check every month. So even after we raise the desired amount we will have to continue our fund raising efforts for a while. Any donation regardless of the size would be greatly appreciated.
