The Story

If you have ever met her, you know that Moby B'sheart is a fabulous little girl and a child with special needs.  You know she is a beautiful, loving,  kind, gentle little girl who is full of laughter and hugs. Her world, however, involves hurdles and fears most of us will never endure. Born very prematurely, Moby fought her way to survival during her birth, in which she lost her twin sister. Now 10, Moby works hard to overcome cerebral palsy, vision impairment, sensory processing dysfunction, anxiety, motor planning issues, and recall issues are a few of the obstacles she faces each day. Every day her world is unpredictable and frightening

A hard worker, Moby has teamed with physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, vision therapists, as well as hippotherapy to make incredible progress.  Moby has a team of support professionals in school and out (and amazing siblings!), however just getting through the anxiety her school day presents is a challenge; there is not much energy left for learning.

Moby has been matched with Rosie, a service dog in training, through Canines for Change (www.caninesforchange.com).  Rosie will allow Moby to develop independence and begin navigating the world without clutching the hand or hem of a caregiver. Rosie will act as her eyes, as her balance, as sensory input for self regulation, as a bridge to form connections with peers, and of course as her loving companion. Because Moby does not have three dimensional vision, Moby struggles to descend stairs, to navigate obstacles such as curbs, uneven sidewalks or other terrain; her service dog will assist her in traversing such environments by guiding her and providing stability.  Moby's sensory system is consistently in flux; Rosie will be able to provide specific input for her.  The service dog will also, importantly, serve as a social bridge for Moby, creating opportunities for interaction with peers and the development of friendships.  Her service dog will be specially trained to meet her unique needs and help her grow.  We, her family, are endeavoring to raise the $12,500 of her service dog's $25,000 training cost. Donating to Moby's service dog fund is tax deductible for you or your company. And donating, and thus bringing her dog home, will change her life. Please help change Moby's life. Donate.  Share this link.  Help us strategize.  We are counting on you!  Thank you, from Moby's family, from Rosie and from Moby.

Thank you for supporting our journey to bring a service dog home for Moby.  The puppy with whom she is matched turned out to not be the right service dog for her.  We are waiting for the right match...and still fundraising for the cost.  Please feel free to pass the information on about Moby's fundraising!  Thank you!  We cannot wait to share with you the moment when Moby brings home her future service dog!
