Hello everyone I would like to give you an update on Malik. We were scheduled for chemo to begin last Thursday unfortunately after running test for 48 hours he was not able to receive his treatment due to his kidneys not functioning properly. However I thank God that out the past 4 months this has been the only time he has been off schedule, so I will not complain. He was able to the Starr test this morning and I say that he Aced it lol..., this was a good sign within itself.
Tomorrow we are scheduled for a clinic follow up at that time they will be checking his levels and blood, I am praying that his kidneys are healthy enough that he can take his chemo getting back on the road towards his recovery. I will update this tomorrow so tonight let us pray that everything is clear . We love you
Sorry for the delay in posting an update. We were discharged on Tue,
March 1st for a week and a half. Unfortuntely he begin running a fever Sat, March, 5th I brought him into the emergency room at Children's where he admitted . His fever was the issue that brought us in and contiued until yesterday but there has been issues with mouth sores and low kidney function also.
We are expected to be here at the least another 3 days. I know that this is all part of his total restoration process so I'm just thanking God for everything knowing that he is still in charge, he will not put more on myself or Malik than we can handle. He is awesome and faithful God who said he will never leave us nor forsake us, so we continue to receive his grace and mercy daily. Thanks to each of you we love you all.
PS: Prayers accepted
The "Malik Madness" fundraiser was a success not just about monies raised but because of all the love and support we felt from each of you that assisted in making this a memorable experience.
Words can not express our heartfelt gratitude...Thank God for each of you.
UPDATE: Malik was admitted the hospital the evening after the fundraiser, Wednesday March 19, ( this is why he was feeling tired at the event). He was passing blood in his urine. There was no detection of an infection but he was admitted because there was a need for a blood transfusion. I am happy to report that today he is feeling great and being discharged from hospital.
Thank you all keep encouraging Malik to fight a good fight and most of all keep praying. We love you talk to you soon
This is Malik's mom and I want to update you on his challenges and triumphs these last couple of weeks. He has completed his first phase of chemotherapy. This was the most aggressive. He began the second phase last Thursday, March 13th we felt that this was going good until he had an allergic reaction that delayed his discharge by a few days. He has been home now for 3 days still having a few challenges with eating because of some mouth sores that is common with the chemo but over all he is doing well. Thanks to God and all your prayers and support we got over the hump month on the 16th and are looking forward to the next three months as this task of beating this cancer gets easier. We love you all and thank you for your support. Let us remember Hannah English and Beth Lyons in our prayers. God bless you and good night
Good afternoon everyone,
We wanted to give an update on Malik's road to recovery.
Thursday, March 6, Malik was admitted from clinic after receiving his lumbar puncture ( this is the chemo that is administered through his spinal cord), to begin his second phase of his chemo. Yes we have conquered the first leg of this race. The new chemo is a little less aggresive than the first he seems to tolerating it well. I can not believe it has been two and half months and we are less than 4 months to the finish line.
Thsnk you everyone God bless each of you.
