I had not been over weight all my life , however in less than 10 yrs due to a condition called PCOS I had gone from 140 pounds to 250 pounds .
In 2007 I had lap band surgery , it was being sold as the 'latest and greatest thing " for weight loss. In less than a year after the lap band surgery i lost 125 pounds, life was great. After a year I did what was called slipped my band , which was bad . It happened again . Long story short my lap band is no longer affective, in fact its making me sick . I can not eat with out throwing up , the only foods I am able to eat are liquids, or mushy foods and those are not good for you there are some days I can not eat all . The opening to my stomach has so much scar tissue around it that it can be closed shut if I throw up too much and get too much swelling ( Which is why my band can not be filled)and i am not close to my the weight I was before I had surgery . I now need a surgery to remove my band and revise my band to a sleeve in order to eat normally again . The problem, I have no insurance, no funds to pay for it and since its not "life threatening " ER's or hospitals wont help me . My only chance right now is to get the Pre Existing condition insurance plan (PCIP) which will cover the surgery . The problem, its $300 a month .
I am asking for the money to cover the premiums and the deductible. I cant tell you how much this will give me my life back . You can read more about my journey here
