The Story

This child is destined for greatness.

After more than 30 hours of a troublesome labor, Jivin Immanuel White was born in a local Filipino birthing clinic with the cord wrapped tightly around his neck.  The attending midwives assured our brother and his wife that he was fine.  As hours went by, it was apparent that Jivin was not fine.  TeeJay and Buena made the decision to rush the baby to a nearby semi-private hospital ER.

This child is destined for greatness.

Just hours after giving birth and with 6 year old daughter Uencie in tow, both mother and baby were admitted with things looking critical.  Healthcare in the Philippines is VERY different than the U.S.  You pay for everything up front and as you go.  When the money runs out, you are sent away.  It didn't take long for TeeJay to run out of funds for his wife and newborn son's treatment.  With nothing left but prayer and faith in God, he was forced to pack his family up and head to the nearest government funded medical facility.

This child is destined for greatness.

When they arrived, TeeJay's heart sank as he realized the dire conditions.  The recent 7.6 earthquake had left the hospital partially in ruin and most of the sick and injured were outside under tents.  Beds were filthy and the choking stench of the dying covered the area like a blanket.  Jivin was placed amongst the number of other babies, all receiving less than adequate treatment.  No monitors, no machines, only a manual hand pump oxygen mask.  Eight babies died there that day, Jivin would not give up.

This child is destined for greatness.

Our family scrambled to send money so that TeeJay could take them back to the hospital.  After long hours of wire transfer attempts, phone calls and confusion, they headed back to the original semi-private hospital with their money in hand.  Only now, the amount had changed.  Suddenly the hospital was claiming that they would have to get more money, they daily rate was now going to be $500 USD/day and they weren't even sure if they had the right monitors for him.  They would need more for that too.  We all began to panic, it seemed that knowing TeeJay is an American, they were increasing the amounts, knowing he would find a way to get more.  What they didn't know, is that our brother in a MIGHTY man of GOD and God wouldn't stand for that.  Amidst the chaos, TeeJay stopped everything and cried out to the Lord.  Not caring who was around, paying no mind to their stares.  At that moment, everything changed.

GOD SAID this child is destined for greatness.

TeeJay and Buena's good friend Israel had been with them throughout this ordeal.  He had been helping them with what he could along the course of the day.  Comforting, translating, organizing facts, whatever he could do.  We believe God sent Israel to TeeJay and Buena as an angel to help carry them.  After TeeJay stopped everything and surrendered to God and His plan, Israel found the CebuDoctorsHospital for them and off they went.

At a fraction of the cost, this hospital and its staff are blessed by God.  Love and diligence are guiding their actions, not greed.  They are shocked that he survived the mistreatment he was given all day and are determined to see that he survives.  Thanks to the Lords guiding hand, our nephew is now being well cared for.  We are not sure yet how long Jivin will have to stay, or what procedures may or may not have to be done.  We do know that we will continue to have to "pay as we go" and this is why we are asking for your help.  Any way you can bless us would be so very appreciated, even $5 USD goes further than you would think.

Thank you for helping us save our beautiful baby nephew and for being a part of his GREAT God written destiny.

Thank you everyone for your continuous love and support since baby Jivin’s frightening birth. We have been blown away by the overwhelming outpour of kindness and donations towards baby Jivin's medical treatment and care at the Cebu Doctors University Hospital in Cebu, Philippines.  It is with much excitement that I am able to tell you that Jivin has been released from the hospital, and TeeJay and Buena were able to take Jivin home for the first time.  Jivin will continue to receive follow up medical care on a regular basis until doctors have determined that he is without a doubt, one hundred percent healthy.  It only by God’s grace that our family has made it through this crisis.  Please CONTINUE TO PRAY for all the other people in the Philippines, and around the world, that do not have family and friends to reach out to when they are in need.

Please encourage your Facebook friends and family to like my Home Is Where The Heart Is page to follow my brother’s continued journey to bring his family to the United States.  I will continue to update the page so that you all are able to share in the joy of watching this beautiful little boy blossom.  If you or anyone you know has immigration advice, please contact me directly.  Thank you all for sharing the witness of a real life miracle.  May Jivin’s story be a testiment that nothing is impossible when you believe and put your faith in God.

From my family to you and yours, we are forever grateful.  We could not have done any of this without you.

God Bless,

Josie

Thank you everyone for your continued love and support. We have been blown away by the overwhelming outpour of kindness and donations towards baby Jivin's medical treatment and care at the Cebu Doctors University Hospital in Cebu, Philippines. Doctors are saying he will most likely need to stay no less than 7 to 10 days.  Jivin is getting ever stronger each day that he can continue to receive the antibiotics and medical treatments that are necessary.  He is starting to open his eyes and his color is improving.  Today he was able to begin nursing instead of having only the feeding tube for nourishment.

Please CONTINUE TO PRAY for complete healing for my beautiful nephew, and for complete peace to come over Trav, Buena and of course Jivin's big 6 year old sister Uencie.

Please encourage your friends and family to share Jivin's Story. Not only are you helping save my nephew's life, but you are sharing the witness of a real life miracle! Nothing is impossible when you believe and put your faith in God.

From my family to you and yours, we are forever grateful.  We could not be doing this without you.

God Bless,

Josie
