The Story

We are raising money to pay for the training and expense of getting an Autism Service Dog for our daughter Tallulah. This service dog will be trained specifically for Tallulah to help assure her personal safety, her emotional development and stability and to provide consistency across different environments in her life. A great many benefits can be derived from the help of a Service Dog in the lives of the developmentally disabled. Please help us get a Service Dog for our Lu. Donations of over $25 will receive an exclusive career spanning CD of various bands Stewart has been involved with over the past two decades as a special thank you. (Cds will be shipped in March)

Dear Friends of Help Tallulah Get and Autism Service Dog,

The past several weeks have been amazing for Lu and the quest for her dog. We have now raised $12,482.00, which is 69.34% of the total $18,000 goal from 191 supports. So many wonderful people doing so much to help our Lu. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and reposted the link to this fundraiser. We are so grateful. And soon we will begin to ship out the Thank You cds that Stew has made. The only problem is that we won't get access to all of the email addresses of donors to the YouCaring site until the very end of the fundraiser when all of the money has been collected. However, if you have donated $25 or more and would like to get your cd sooner, please just email us your address and we will ship it out right away! Thank you again for all of the love, support, repostings and donations. You all rule!

The school where Tallulah does her Integrated Special Needs Preschool, Cromer Elementary, has been holding a special Valentine's Day Candygram fundraiser to help Tallulah get her Autism Service Dog. I am so thrilled that her wonderful teacher Mrs. Good, the principal Mrs Elam-Gordon and the school all stepped up to help out in this way. And I was shocked to just receive over $100 in checks when I dropped Lu off this afternoon and was told that we would receive the cash from lunchroom sales later in the week. I have to admit that when they said candygram sales I thought it was a great idea but probably would generate less than $100. But the kids teachers and parents realy did a great job raising money. Way to go Cromer Elementary School, Mrs Good, Mrs Elam-Gordon and all the students and parents for helping Tallulah get an Autism Service Dog! You guys rule!

I just read a great New York Times Article on Service Dogs that explains so much about their training and potential benefits for the disabled. It also goes into the reason behind the very high cost of these dogs. Please take a moment to read it if you can.

The URL is: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/05/magazine/wonder-dog.html?_r=1&hp

For some reason I can't post an actual link here on the updates section, but that should work if you copy and paste it into your browser.

Thank you again to all the wonderful people who have dontated and are dedicated to helping Tallulah get her wonder dog!
