The Story

Please help fellow Seminole Ronny Ahmed on his journey to recovery. Ronny was tragically shot three times on November 20th in front of Strozier Library on FSU's campus. He was critically injured, taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, and immediately placed in ICU. He was the first student shot but, despite his wounds, was able to alert authorities in time for them to subdue his attacker. Ronny has sustained a serious injury to his spinal cord in addition to his arm and chest; he has been paralyzed from the waist down. Unfortunately, he is not expected to walk again.

A medical trust fund was set up to support his family with medical expenses and long term care. Please help with anything you can. Thanks for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.

**If site is down or you would like to send a check or other form of contribution,  please send a note to fsuronny@gmail.com for details.**

**For those asking for verification of this fundraiser, we've spoken with both youcaring.com and Ronny's family, who confirmed this is authentic at a press conference held  on Monday, November 24th.**

**Given the outpouring of support that has allowed us to come close to our original goal, we've now increased our target in the hopes of covering more medical and long-term care costs for the family. Please see the updates tab for more details.**

Hello Folks,

Thank you for all the support, prayers, and generous donations throughout the first year of Ronny’s journey. We should all be honored that even under the worst circumstances; we remain united (FSUnited).

Ronny you are a role model.  We are lucky to have you as a friend and fellow ‘Nole; we couldn’t be more proud of all that you have done.

Ronny is still currently recovering at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He endures both physical and occupational therapy and has recently enjoyed the presence of a new furry friend! He is in high spirits and is very much looking forward to coming back to Florida State University. He also wants to thank everyone for the on-going support through the following message:

Hi everyone,

I need to take a moment and say a deep, heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you that donated to and supported me on this website. This has meant so much to my family and me as we struggled through my recovery, wondering what we were going to do about the mounting bills. This has really shown me how amazing people can truly be in the face of tragedy, and I am so glad to be a part of this amazing community with truly caring people. Thank you! I'm so grateful for everything you've done.

Sincerely,

Ronny

I will continue to post updates throughout the year regarding Ronny's journey and will also leave this fundraiser open for more donations. I am absolutely honored to be a part of the Seminole nation and am grateful for everyone's support. Enjoy the rest of your year and keep Ronny in your prayers!

P.S. Feel free to share the link to this fundraiser with all of your friends!

Ronny has been transferred to the Shepherd Center, a spinal cord injury speciality hospital in Atlanta, where he will be treated for the next two months. Unfortunately, he is experiencing severe nerve pain but this is expected to subside over the coming weeks. He is now alert and talking, and is so grateful for your continued support and kindness.

Given the outpouring of donations that have allowed us to come close to our goal, we have raised our target to $300,000. As we researched the costs that Ronny and his family are expected to have, we found that average lifetime cost of paraplegia is estimated between $1M and $2M, with a first year cost from $300K to $500K. As we aim to defray as many costs as possible for his family, we thank you for your continued generosity. For those interested in learning more about these costs, please see the following links.
