The Story

Linda Stay, our friend, wife, mother of 9, grand-mother of 7 & 1/2, sister and as she calls herself, “accidental activist,” is confronting the biggest challenge of her life. She's dealing with anaggressive and invasive breast cancer, covering theoverwhelming ensuing medical expenses, and raising the money to get the care that will give her the best lifesaving outcome today as well as the best quality of life in the years to come. It is a near impossible task to accomplish by herself.

If you are fortunate to know anything about Linda it is probably that she seems fearless and passionate in everything she does, especially when it comes to standing up and lending her voice and might for those being treated unfairly. It’s not just her own children that call her the mama bear but also the thousands of individuals that feel like her adopted children because of the stand for equality and acceptance she has so willingly taken for them.

Today, Linda could use you as a financial mama bearto help her get the best lifesaving treatments for the disease that has been challenging her life since January 2015.

In March, Linda underwent a double Mastectomy and as a result of a previous extremely rare health issue, “Cushings Disease,” her immune system is severely weakened, creating increased risk for complications and making the healing process slower than normal. With the intense 8 chemotherapy treatments she's had, it's critical that Linda have a regimen of integrative treatments that are not covered by insurance or available locally.

These critical medical treatments and travel related cost come at a steep price. Her family’s resources were quickly exhausted with these additional expenses added to their regular living expenses and with her unable to contribute at the level she was previously because of her condition. We know that through the love and power of all of you who support and love Linda we can pick up the huge slack.

Linda gives so much to all those around her, now it is our chance to give to her. Please donate what you can and spread the word to those you think would be able and willing to help.

Cancer obviously had no idea who it was picking a fight with as Linda doesn’t give up easily. Last year she celebrated the 20th anniversary of a “three months left to live” diagnosis given to her in 1994.

Linda is intent on getting well and has plans for the future. She knows her work in the world is not over, besides, she is adamant about celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary with Steve in 2051. She has been extremely pro-active in researching not only the best treatment options available and causes of the disease but what to do to prevent recurrence. The amazing attitudeshe has in facing this challenge continues to be an inspiration to all who are following her journey.

As friends and family, we hope you will join us in helping Linda on her journey back to wellness by making a donation today and by sharing this site with a personal encouragement for others to do the same. Any amount is appreciated. Please help Linda embrace life to its fullest and continue to make a difference in the world.

Update July 17th 2016

Wow, it's been almost 4 months since we've given an update.

I'm learning the hard way that I need to pace myself better and continue to stay focused on rebuilding my health. My life force and brain function continue to improve and the toughest part right now is seeing so many people close to me not doing so well. I love seeing my oncologist be surprised at how well I'm doing. ?

We're feeling excited about the prospects of climbing out of the deep financial hole we've created these last 18 months getting my health back. It feels good to have a focus, other than just health, along with renewed hope for a bright future of doing a lot more of the things we love again. ??? Care to join us???

Update March 28th, 2016

It's been an interesting couple months as I have baby stepped myself back into life. My biggest struggle has been energy (lack of), unreasonable fear and anxiety, and frustrating chemo brain.

However thanks to the support of what feels like a new miracle product I started a month ago, ( ) lots of patience and love, Bobby Edwards at Squatty Potty giving me a job, Equality Utah once again supporting my passion for the annual Equality Celebration, I am feeling more like myself everyday, full of HOPE and Passion.

At this time of rebirth, new life, I finally feel the life force is returning to me. I am more than grateful!

By the way, I got over 20,000 steps in the last two days. Woohoo! VICTORY dance time over here.

It's been 33 days since my last update and 2 1/2 months since my last round of chemo therapy.

Getting off the pain medications was one of the toughest parts of the whole ordeal but I did it and over the last few weeks I'm finally free of the debilitating deep bone pain and fatigue. Staying out of fear and anxiety about the future requires constantly reaching into my bag of helpful emotional tools and to the very gifted talents of some friends. I was very concerned about never feeling like myself again but in the last couple of week I've began to experience the deep emotions that feel like me and besides, plus my hair is coming back.

Many friends are asking where am I with regard to the cancer. The answer depends on the perspective of the person you ask.

Here's my best attempt to answer that to everyone's satisfaction.

- If you ask me, I know how powerful our minds, intentions and staying in a feel good space are so my response is "it's all gone!" I'm feeling good and moving forward with life, my business & my accidental activism.

- If you ask my U.S. oncologist, she would say that with having the double mastectomy & by completing the recommended chemotherapy treatments, we've reduced the risk of the cancer coming back within the next 10 years to 34%. She would like to start me on hormone blocking medications which would reduce the risk to about 29%. There is nothing else she can suggest that can help reduce it further. The only ongoing testing she plans on doing is through blood draws every 3 months, unless I feel something or get sick. The unknown factor is how Cushing's disease, which I have as a result of my previous brain tumor, impacts the %'s.
- If you ask my Mexico doctor & oncologist, they agree with starting the hormone therapy but would also like me to continue the High Dose IV vitamin C and other nutrients as well as continuing a strict anti-cancer and detox diet. They feel this will further reduce the possible recurrence of cancer by rebuilding my immune system, which was already compromised by the Cushing's disease, and by repairing the organ and tissue damage caused by the chemo, drugs and pain medications. Because of my extremely high recurrence score and the large percentage of patients that have heart, blood & liver issues a few years after having the same chemo treatments I've had, they feel we need to stay aggressive with these protocols. They would like me to have full body thermography scans and a blood test that picks up circulating tumor cells. They would like me to complete an intensive 3 week rejuvenation program at their clinic in Rosarito, Mexico to insure the best outcome.

I'm also encouraged by several revolutionary immune building and detoxing therapies that were just made available at a new integrative functional medicine clinic in the Salt Lake City area. I'm exploring options for going there.

None of the treatments suggested by my Mexico doctors or at the integrative clinic are covered by insurance. I am trusting that if I am supposed to do these protocols a way will be provided. If you feel to help make that possible, it is always welcome & appreciated.

I'm so thankful for all the integrative treatments I was able to do before & during chemotherapy and for all the love & light that was sent and is still coming my way. I know it is making a difference.

Much Love, Linda
