The Story

Below is Jonnie's battle of her brain tumor, she evicted him on Jan21st 2014, in which her incision opened up two weeks later causing a major CSF(cerebral spinal fluid) leak. She contracted bacterial menegitis from the leak and was rushed to the hospital where she was admitted into ICU until she was stable enough to transport her back to LA for a 2nd brain surgery. After her 2nd surgery she was admitted into the hospital for almost 30 days due to the menegitis and mini strokes. Jonnie says she feels so much more alive but her body has some long term effects now due to her complications. She will be working with a neuro opthamologist to help her vision( as that takes the longest to heal) as well as with HIANN on exercises, meals, and natural supplements to help with swelling and healing of the brain. She will also have tests done to check her progress, so i ask that if you can please help Jonnie and her family in any way as this journey has effected then in so many ways.

Jonnie is a 26 year old mom and wife. Shortly after having her daughter, Jonnie started experiencing severe headaches. In addition to the headaches, Jonnie experiences blurry vision, white vision, tinnitus, blackouts, nausea/vomiting, irregular sleep, & dizziness. The headaches and dizziness are so bad most days that they leave Jonnie disabled in bed, on good days she's able to take lots of meds just so she can somewhat function like a normal 26 yr old. The blurry vision, blackouts, dizziness, and disorientation have left her unable to drive or go anywhere alone, (as Jonnie says she feels like a teenager again having to depend on everyone else, her freedom has been taken away. Jonnie's cyst has now grown enough to cause her spinal fluid pressure to be elevated so surgery is imminent.

Jonnie has seen several different doctors from primary care, ENT, Neurologist, Cardiologist, opthomalogist, etc....After several physician office visits, 2 EEG, 2 CT scans, 2 spinal taps, tons of lab work, echocardiagram, king of hearts test, vision exams, hearing exams, and 2 brain MRI, Jonnie was diagnosed with a 1.1cm(11mm x 10mm)  Pineal Cyst with cystic pineocytoma characteristics. Jonnie requires brain surgery. This type of brain surgery is one of the most dangerous types of brain surgery performed! After seeing different neurosurgeons on the west coast, and being told time and again the because of the cysts location they won't perform surgery, Jonnie was fed up. God was protecting and guiding Jonnie and she found a Dr in Los Angeles who performs this surgery endoscopicly at the Skull Base Institute.Jonnie and her family will have to travel to California to have the surgery done. Dr, Shahinian told Jonnie her cyst is abnormally large and that removing it will help Jonnie get her life back. Jonnies cyst is pressing on her tectile plate, as well as causing spinal fluid pressure. The neurosurgeon is out of network for Jonnie's insurance plan and her share of the cost is several thousand dollars(upwards of $35,000). Every dollar counts and will help Jonnie get closer to having the surgery she desperately needs, if you can't help financially, words of encouragement and prayers are always welcome

You can learn more about the pain that pineal tumors cause as well as watch Dr. Shahinian perform the endoscopic surgery by watching this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fbj2h3NrKM)

If Jonnie is unable to have the surgery the cyst can continue to grow causing seizures, and in severe cases, coma.

Back on 7/12/14 Jonnie had her post op MRI here in Reno to see how the infections and surgical areas were healing and to all of our amazement the MRI showed everything is normal :D Hallelujah. Now Jonnie is just waiting to see the neuro opthamogist to help with vision issues caused by the tumor and surgery. It's taking a while as there's been insurance issues and therea only one of theses Drs in Nevada

Due to insurance problems all post op care was delayed. Jonnie will have an MRI done this week to see how her brain is healing to look for any problems from surgeries. She is still waiting to get into the neuro opthamologist to help with her vision especially at night. Jonnie says she has more good days then bad and even her bad days now are no where near what they were before surgery. Her body let's her know when shes over done it and sometimes it frusterates her because it could be something as simple as shopping; between the lights, music, and looking through clothes it's over stimulating. Drs said for every year she was ill before surgery is how long it can take the body to be 100%  after

Jonnie's neurologist will be performing a EEG and a MRI to see how her brain is functioning since surgery and to make sure healing is going as planned and that the mini strokes have stopped.
