The Story

Help Heal Brewster

Brewster's story for every abandoned dog that is out there......

It's cold and the wind is blowing in my eyes, causing tears to stream down the side of my face. I shiver in the cold at night trying to curl up under the trees for shelter, but there really is nothing that will protect my short fur from the harsh weather be it the bitter cold, rain, or freezing snow. I keep trotting along hoping to find some food. I roam around homes nosing in the trash bags to see what I can find and keep moving hoping for something to eat. I lick this growth that is growing on my leg. It hurts and bleeds sometimes. I wish it would go away, but I soothe it with my comforting licks. Sometimes it's hard for me to breathe and I can't catch my breath so I rest for a bit and get moving again as my tummy grumbles. My back leg hurts, but I keep briskly walking in hopes for a better future. It's been several weeks, perhaps months that I have been let go as I have lost count of the days. See my owner's let me go for reasons I don't know why, I just don't understand. Now, I am alone and am just trying to survive. I don't talk much, but I love to socialize and be included or even better, be part of a family.

One cold morning, I thought I would be brave and trot up to this one house. No one was outside, but I heard little voices inside. I was hoping they would like me. A lady is walking out to see what the fuss is that those little voices are squealing about. She seems rather reluctant, but I think I have a chance as she keeps staying outside with me and now there are these little beings following closely behind her that are rather excited to see me. Oh no.. they are all going inside... perhaps if I stay here long enough they'll come back. Yay!!!! they came back and brought some food and water for me. I think I 'm gong to like these people.

That's my dog, a pitbull terrier, that adopted us. He wouldn't leave our sides the moment he came trotting onto our property. He new this was his home even before I knew it.

After taking Brewster to the vet to get his rabie shots and diagnosis, we found out that he is approximately 7 years of age. He tested positive for heartworms. He also has bleeding perianal tumors that are cancerous and will need to be surgically removed. The vet also suggested that he needs to be neutered along with the surgery to prevent further tumors returning. He does have arthritis and patella luxation in his back leg which we treat with glucosamine chewable tablets. This is not going to be cheap and I plan on sticking it out as long as Brewster is there for us, we are there for him. I need your help in paying for his medical expenses for his surgery to remove the cancerous tumors and his heartworm treatments. They are separate treatments. There will be a time lapse between them as heartworm treatments are very serious. With faith, hope, and trust, I am praying that God will provide the funds and the show of love from others for Brewster to give him the healing treatments for a better future. We plan on giving him all the love he so deserves from his new family.

Please donate and Help Heal Brewster. Any donation is welcomed and no donation is too small. I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks again for your support in just one of many abandoned dogs. It will make a difference in Brewster's life and ours.
