I’d like to introduce you to some friends of mine. Their story is both difficult and amazing to hear. It’s a story of hardships, fears, love, faith, and perseverance. My hope is that after hearing just a portion of what they’ve gone through recently you’ll be inclined to pledge your financial support.
Whether you know them or you’re just hearing about them for the first time, you and I have the opportunity to help these friends walk through their current battle with more ease than they ever imagined or expected was possible. God does great things, and I firmly believe that He desires to use those who read this to help us gain a deeper sense of His generous and loving character. His greatness far surpasses that of financial challenges, and I’ve personally experienced how amazing it is when people band together to help someone in need. No obstacle is too big or small for Him and He uses people as His instruments - even if it means that you pledge just $10.
That being said, I happily introduce you to Corrine and Matt. Corrine’s story alone will blow your mind and she’s only 23. Matt’s unconditional love for his wife and godly example will challenge you to be a better person. Their story together is one that displays the beauty of the Lord bringing together two people who love Him, who love each other, and who love others with a purpose. I know that God has wonderful plans for them and I’ve been privileged to see glimpses of that plan in the short time that we’ve been friends.
You see, Corrine and her family found out that she has an inoperable brain tumor when she was 19. Just a few years ago she had brain surgery and recently received a few rounds of radiation to help decrease the size of the tumor. The good news is that the tumor has decreased and in one year she will be deemed in remission - and I am absolutely praying for this to happen! The “bad” news is that she and Matt now have the weight of a $10,000 radiation bill to face as they hope for that year-remission marker.
BUT this is where we all can play a role in their beautiful story. Matt and Corrine have only been married for a year and a half. Let that sink in - they have been married for less than two years and they haven’t even celebrated their 25th birthdays! During this short time they have faced things as a couple that many married couples statistically won’t even have to think about until their 15th or 20th years of marriage. These two have experienced the fear of hearing less-than-ideal medical results and the anxiety of what the future might hold if those results aren’t “promising.”
In the midst of it all, I’ve seen them face this situation with a steady faith as they’ve weathered this storm, and I need your help to offer a financial umbrella. Let’s be honest, it actually feels great to give and it is super hipster to do so.The fact is that many of us can opt out of our usual coffee-a-day to donate $20, $50, or even $100 to this cause. Not to mention that many of us are about to come into some “extra money,” with it being tax season. Why not give some of it away for a great cause?
Many people will see this and move on without pledging any money - and that is OK. I understand that not everyone will be inclined to give financially, but that isn’t the only purpose of this post. Matt and Corrine would greatly benefit from your prayer support and your “share’ support. All I ask is that you seriously considerone (and preferably all) of the options below:
- Pledge a financial donation in one of three ways: cash, check, or donate online through this site.
- Commit to praying for this awesome couple.
- SHARE this link with your friends and family and anyone who could spare even $5 for a great cause.
I am excited to see what we can do together, and I'll end this post by praising God for all that He plans to do with this effort. May you be encouraged by Ephesians 3:20-21:
Now to him who us able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
*We will keep this fundraiser open until their bill is completely paid. Let’s show Matt and Corrine that we can help them with this need quickly. I don’t know how long it will take, but let’s enjoy watching that value increase as we celebrate the beauty of sacrificial giving.
**Please do not let the credit card processing fee keep you from donating. If you will see me in person at any time within the next few weeks you can just provide me with a check to save from paying the processing fee. However, if you would prefer to donate online, just know that the fee is less than 3%. It’s necessary for sites like youcaring.com to charge this kind of fee in order to make it easy for us to accept online donations.
