The Story

On Thursday Oct 24th, the Gorham family attended the NC State Fair in hopes of some wholesome family fun. However, instead they became victims of a horrific tragedy. Three members of the immediate family were serverly injured - Father: Anthony Gorham, Mother: Kisha Gorham, and Son: 14 year old Justen Hunter. Luckily, Anthony's 4 yr old daughter, Aaliyah, and the couples 4-month-old baby, Addison, was not at the State Fair with the family. Also, there was an extended member of the family injured on the ride with the Gorhams, niece: Shykeyma Dempsey.

The extent of their injuries were very severe, including brain, skull, neck and spinal injuries. The road to physical and mental recovery will be very long and rocky for the family. Both Anthony and Kisha will need to undergo several surgeries and intensive rehab in order to overcome this ordeal. This will require them both to miss an unknown amount of time from work.

We are asking for your help with the long journey that Anthony, Kisha, and the Gorham family now face. The days ahead will be extremely difficult. We can not take away the pain and memories of this terrifying tragedy, however, we can help to alleviate some of the financial responsibilities that come with providing for a 4-month-old baby girl and 14 year old boy, medical assistance to recover from such traumatic injuries, and long term care for the providers who are now injured and can not provide for their family.

Please feel free to make a donation of any size. No amount is too small. Or help us spread the word by sharing this story on facebook, twitter, or any other social or news media. We cannot thank you enough for all your support, love, and continued prayers.

Hello. I'm sorry I haven't been in touch in awhile. Life has been very hectic. Even now as I take a moment to again say thank you, I'm trying to do two things at once. My family is still blown to the four corners of the earth. Everyone is still on this long road to recovery. I'm sure you've heard about the lawsuit. Let me just say it's not about money. It's about my family's well-being. Our lives have been forever changed! No longer is my husband the fun loving, outgoing, & youthful man he was when I married him a year & a half ago. He is now disabled and we have no idea what to expect in coming days. My niece's nursing career is no more due to severe back pain. My son has difficulty day to day with the emotional trauma. As for me, I try to keep my head up & suck up the tears when I think of all we've been through. My body is in constant pain and so is my heart. We have mounds of medical bills and need continued care. We shouldn't have to suffer the financial strain on top of the mental and physical anguish.

Hello. I know it's been some time, but we're still here. Please pray for my husband as he undergoes major surgery tomorrow. Please continue to pray for all of my family; we have endured more pain and sorrow than imaginable.

What a week!...& it's only Tuesday.
Well we finally got Medicaid!...only to learn today that it will no longer pay for Anthony's therapy visits after this week which means we will now be responsible for the payments...$34,416. On top of that, Anthony may have to undergo another surgery. Keyma is still troubled by her back & the doctors have no answers as to why. J is still dealing with his emotional scares. I've got new pains but I'm pressing on. The enemy is really trying to shake my faith. NOT! I'm prayerful the Lord will enlarge our territory! We shall have favor from man! I know you all have issues you & your family may be dealing with as well. I ask that yyou stand in agreement with me that God is able! Psalms 23

Hello. I just wanted to take a moment to say hello. No, we have not gone away our struggle still continues. I don't know if we are ment to get through this or to survive this but I do know we all want to live full lives. We're trying to get our lives back together. Since Anthony was discharged I have been going nonstop with health appointments. Yes, I get tired and my body hurts but I rest when everyone is safe and sound asleep. Please continue to pray our strength in the Lord. God bless!

God continues to move in our favor! Thank you to each and every one of you for your prayers and support. Your words of encouragement are so heartfelt. I have many scriptures that give me peace in this storm but the one that truly helps me hold on is Jeremiah 29:11. Understanding that God has a plan for me and my family gives me peace. The Bible tells us "in all thy getting; get understanding." We do not know why God allows us to go through trials and tribulations but we must understand there is always a purpose in our storm. We must understand that He sent His son Jesus to heal the sick and the broken hearted. Instead of questioning God be at peace with the understanding that He will never leave you nor forsake you. God bless!

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers! I can't praise God enough for how He's blessing us!
I applied for Medicaid on November 1, 2013 however to this date my application is still "pending". If it weren't for the donations to the website my family would have no health insurance. Please continue to spread the word about the website, for we're still paying for costly medical coverage. Thank you.

This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it, for this is the day He blessed my husband to come home from the hospital! Yes, today Anthony was discharged from the hospital! Thank you all for your prayers and support! Our journey is far from over. Please continue to pray for my family. My niece is still struggling with her back injury, Anthony is still recovering, and J is continuing to deal with the emotional impact. As for me, I'm still believing God for a total healing; spirit, soul & body! God bless you all!
