The Story

My Story:

On April 23rd 2013, I almost lost my life. I went off the winding mountain road near Cripple Creek, Colorado. By the grace of God, I survived she treacherous decent down the mountainside, but woke to a terrible nightmare. I was alone, in the freezing cold night, and 2000 ft. below the road. At that moment, I needed to decide to live or die, and made the excruciating 5 hours climb back up the mountain. I had an angel looking over me, and today I am preparing to go home from the hospital with frost bitten toes, nerve damage in my fingers, and fractures my face and spine. I am also going home with a full heart, because I know that I have so many friends that care about me deeply. Unfortunately, my fight doesn’t stop here. I am facing major medical expenses and could use your help. Please make a donation to “Get Well Sandy” by going to any US Bank Branch or mailing a check payable to "Get Well Sandy" to US Bank, Attn: Brian Ressler, 6 S. Tejon, Colorado Springs, Co. 80903.

Thank you for all the support you have already shown me. I am blessed to be alive and to have an amazing people like you in my life.

Hi Everyone! Yesterday was amazing an emotional Mother's Day. I got to spend it with my mom and daughter. They have been taking great care of me since my accident, and I know I wouldn't have made the progress I have without them here. I wouldn't have been able to enjoy that amazing day with two people I love dearly if I didn't survive the accident. Together we enjoyed a wonderful brunch in Manitou and sat outside for a while soaking up the warm sun. The warmth felt great on my fingers and toes :) I hope that everyone else was able to enjoy mothers day with the remarkable women in your lifes too!

Hi Everyone! This is Nicole, Sandy's daughter. Yesterday we went to my mom's follow up appointment with the "foot" doctor, and she says she will get to keep all her piggies! Literally, those were her words :) Everything was healing nicely and my mom got the go ahead to start walking on both feet, with the help of her new stylish shoe they hooked her up with. Needless to say it was a great visit and we are looking forward to the next one as my mom continues recover. Check out the pictures from the visit. They aren't the prettiest toes, but we are thrilled she gets to keep them all! God Bless!

Today is Day 4 of recovery. My feet don't as bad and I am able to use my hands more. I really want to take this time to say, Thank You! to everyone that has been so supportive. What happend to me was tragic and a miracle at the same time. And to everyone that has donated on my webpage, thank you so much. I have no medical isurance to help pay for the bills that have already begun rolling in. This is a huge burden on me and my family, and I cannot express in words how people's generousity has touched my heart. Tomorrow I go to the foot doctor and I will post pictures of my progress. Pray for the Piggies! -Sandy

Today was a good day! I can honestly say that my feet didnt hurt as much today. To top it off, I took my torn and broken purse from the accident into Coach, and they let me pick out a new one right from the store! Amazing how a new purse can make a girl feel :))
Thank you everyone for your support. I can use more days like this. It's hard for me to think about what happend two weeks ago tonight. Still doesn't seem real.
