On December 7, 2012, after suffering from multiple strokes, Claire Sargent underwent a complicated surgery to treat her rare occlusive brain disease, Moyamoya.
Claire suffered from a trans ischemic attack (mini stroke) in April of 2013. Claire requires constant monitoring until her doctor's area able to discern if the surgery was a success, and new blood vessels have developed thus greatly reducing her risk of additional strokes, seizures, and TIAs.
Her mom, Andrea, is struggling as a single mother to make ends meet while caring for Claire and her big brother Quinn, as well as shuttling her back and forth for her myriad of doctor's visits, specialist appointments, tests, and procedures in Grand Rapids - a 100 mile trip one way.
We'd like to come together as a community to help Claire and her family in her time of need. To read more about Claire's story, please visit The Claire Chronicles.
