The Story

I thought the best way to set up the information about what is going on with Becky's Little Tumor Adventure, was to let her tell it....below is the latest post from her facebook page dated 8/27/2013:

Is Helmet Hair in style because it looks like I am going to have a serious case of it by the time this whole stinking thing is over. Pathology came back yesterday and the tumor is/was a Grade 4. No surprise really as the bastard grew during radiation . Basically, it is/was the most freaking (insert more appropriate adjective here) rotten tumor you could have. It had apparently built itself a whole series of vascular channels so that it could better feed itself and grow big and strong. What a trooper! Of course it appears to be all out now, but they worry about all of the residual cell matter that was left behind, so it looks like they are going to zap me with 9 more RadLabs ASAP even though the incision isn't completely healed and then throw in some Chemo for good measure, all in hopes of killing every last cell because this thing is such a bizarre mutant that they don't want to leave anything behind that might regenerate. The radiation won't do us any favors regarding spinal swelling which will discourage the nerves from communicating again which will prolong the return of my lost function. I guess the good news is that i can't run away! For now, I will complete my two weeks in Acute Physical Rehab here in SF and hope to throw in 9 days of RadLab while I'm at it in hopes of going home with a Big Red Bow on my helmet and a note from my doctors saying we can retire the Disco Ball for a ball cap and leave the lightsaber in the yard for now. Someone told me today to keep fighting the best way a girl! Here's to fighting like a girl...with a bitchen sparkly helmet and a bad case of Helmet Hair! What a visual......

YES, they do have insurance, however, like most trainers, the deductible is high, there will be significant out of pocket expenses along with the 20% that is their portion....not to mention the lost income while she is down.  They will have some of these expenses yearly until this "adventure" is over!!
