My son asked me to tell you about Alonna and explain how sick she is.
Let me start by saying what a kind of person Alonna is. She is the type of person that when you meet her you can't help but fall in love with her. She is the most wonderful mother you could imagine to their four children. Eight month old Eloise, three year old Mercedes, nine year old Harley and thirteen year old Mike. She is a wonderful wife to my son, a wonderful daughter and sister. She is only 32 years old.
Alonna went to the hospital four weeks ago with a high fever, low blood pressure and a sore about the size of a quarter on her thigh. In a weeks time this had grown to more than the size of a melon. After a week they did surgery to remove the dying tissue and to run test to see if they could figure out what was causing this to happen. For a whole month she has ran a 103 to 104 temperature and her blood pressure was unstable at times. She was having surgery every couple of days with the doctors checking her sore, removing more dead tissue and running tests. They finally decide to do a bone marrow test because nothing was showing up with the tissue tests that would give them the answers they were looking for. The first bone marrow test showed her blood count was way off. It made them decide that this sore she had was secondary to what was going on. They decide to do another bone marrow test and this time they came up with an answer. Alonna was diagnosed with Myelodysplasia (MDS). It is a blood cancer that is rare for a woman of her age to come down with. She is in the last stage of the cancer. She started chemotherapy two days ago. They need to kill off most of her blood cells in order to prepare her for a bone marrow transplant. Without this transplant Alonna's chances are not good.
Here is what we need help with. Joshua nor Alonna have health insurance. Joshua has been out of work for some time now. As you can imagine the medical expenses are already astronomical and they won't even consider the transplant in less they pay up front $200,000. We need to raise as much money to cover the medical expenses as we can so Alonna can get the transplant that she needs. Won't you please donate what ever you can to help towards reaching this goal. She has four beautiful children that need their Mom to be there for them. My son is caring a huge load on his shoulders right now, more than one person is really able to handle.
Thank you for your time in reading Alonna's story and for helping anyway you can.
(Please note that this is a donation to a private person and not a charity, so your donation is not tax deductible). Please don't let that stop you from donating though!
