The Story

Hi!!!

My name is Jack. I love trucks and playing with my big brother. I hope one day I can play sports with him, he plays baseball. I mid January I was diagnosed with Wilms' tumor. Wilms' tumor is a type of cancer that forms on your kidneys. So I went to the hospital and the doctors took out the tumor, along with one of my kidneys. Then they used a combination of radiation and chemotherapy to attack the cancer some more. Thanks to the great work of the whole medical team I was able to come home to celebrate my second birthday! I had the whole family come over and we had a cake shaped like a monster truck... did I mention I love monster trucks? I know I will have to be back in the hospital a lot for more chemotherapy and that stinks. The road ahead will be long and hard.... but I'm tough and I have a great family.

So thanks for all your support and if you would like to help me out on my road to recovery then you came to the right place!

Oh yeah... by the way, if you want to donate but don't want to do it online then you can go to any Wells Fargo and donate directly to the Jackson Wyatt Dupps Benefit Fund! Be sure to mention that it is a benefit fund or the teller may have a hard time finding it. Also, please write your name on your deposit slip/transfer so I can say thanks!

THANK YOU!

From Kelli:

Hey Everyone!  Happy Summer Solstice!

I just wanted to write with an update and post a new video.

This video is Ethan and & Jackson “dancing” once again to a song that Greg randomly put on.  When he first did this 6 months ago, we thought their response was hilarious.  They were sitting so still and then both just bolted up and had to move!  So, ever since then that’s just what they do.  We played it again recently and this is the video.  It is significant for many reasons; other than the fact he has no hair and is wearing a cape this time around.  The biggest one for me being that JACK CAN JUMP!  I have to admit as an OT I never anticipated how hard it would be to watch my kid struggle to stand up.  This has given me an entirely new perspective and amount of respect for the kids and families I work with.  Another reason I love it is because it is so fun for me to watch the boys laughing and playing together.  Jack wants to be just like E!  So we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

I also wanted to let everyone know that we recently hashed through the 3-4 inch thick pile of medical bills that we have accrued over the past 6 months.  Greg and I, along with you all made our first payments for his hospital and clinic care.  Because of you, we didn’t go into cardiac arrest.  Seriously.  So, thank you forever.

Also, because you are our VIP Action Jackson Fan Club members…(or what will soon be officially referred to as The Action Jackson Justice League), you were sent Sunflowers.  Please take a picture of the flowers or where you planted them and post so we can show Ethan and Jack.  We are excited to see the love & support for our family bloom from around the globe.

Love to All-

Kelli A. Dupps, Mom to a SUPER brave kid, The Action Jackson Justice League COO, XOXO

HELLO TEAM ACTION JACKSON!!!

Here is an update from Kelli....Thanks & Much Love

Fight, Fight, Fight!!!

Thank you everyone for your continued support.  I have not been very good about providing updates, but please know that Greg and I couldn’t be more appreciative of ALL of the love that continues to be poured our way.  We thank you for checking in on us, making us laugh, leaving wine at our door step, cooking meals, cleaning our house, etc…the list goes on and on.  This week was especially hard and you all have helped to get us through.

Last weekend we had a MONSTER TRUCK style fundraiser.  Several neighborhood families, friends, and co-workers (past and present) worked, donated, and $hopped the second JUNK FOR JACK yard sale.  It was super fun and raised a bunch of cash for Action Jackson!!!  Honorable mention to Christine Horn who wore the apron and was our head cashier for the entire event!  Thanks girl!  XOXO

This week was a struggle as Jack’s chemo treatment was once again put on hold.  We were so certain that his ANC (Absolute Neutrophil Count) would be high enough (>300) because it was SO high last Monday (19,000).  It was 195 so we will try again this Monday (the 6th).  On Monday he was able to get a blood transfusion which made A WORLD of difference.  He felt SO MUCH better.  We are still learning and realizing what a roller coaster this process really is.  Last weekend I was so sad when I was holding Jack and realized his eye lashes were falling out…..thought we were gonna get to keep those;)  BUT today I realized we are 1/3 of the way through treatments!!!  1/3 of the way!!!  Feels like a pretty big accomplishmentJ

So thanks again everyone…we want to be battin’ more than 300 on Monday and I will be sure to let everyone know as soon as possible.

Hugs!
