The Story

Off-duty Alderson Police Officer Mccaden "Mac" Brackenrich was injured in a shooting in Summers County on Friday, October 27.  The incident appears to be unrelated to his police work and he was off duty.  He is currently in the Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC).  We hope to raise $50,000 to help with his medical expenses.  Please donate what you can.
As you can see in the photo, earlier on Friday he was helping the Alderson Police Department hand out pencils and flashlights to Alderson Elementary school students at their Halloween event.  He has a fiancee and a one year old daughter.  Your help will be appreciated.  Mac was very seriously injured.

Great message and photo from Devon AND MAC and Ava! We all echo her sentiment that 2018 be a year of healing, patience and progress for Mac and his family!

Devon Grey Rodgers is with Mac Brackenrich.

January 1 at 12:40pm · Atlanta, GA ·

There are many moments from 2017 that I would go back and live over again and again, but many moments that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I was thinking last night, is it possible for a year to be one of the best and worst years of your life?

Regardless, I’m glad we start fresh today.

It’s a new chapter to our book - we have 365 blank pages to write.

I woke up this morning feeling very refreshed. We started back at the top this morning. We don’t ever have to live through 2017 again.

God is going to make 2018 one of the best years of our lives and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.

From my family to yours, Happy New Year! I hope God blesses you and yours in the same way I know he will bless us 🖤

First, thank you all so much for all your help!!  Mac is making progress!  He is at a rehab center in Atlanta and the latest accomplishment is that they have taken out his trachea tube. He is breathing on his own!  There is a great photo of him, Devon, and Ava on the Town of Alderson Facebook page along with Devon's message

The outpouring of support from everyone has been completely beyond belief.  On this site and through fundraisers there has been wonderful generosity. Mac's recovery to date has certainly benefited from the love and prayers with which he has been surrounded.

However, many months of rehabilitation lay ahead. Please continue with your love and prayers and financial support if you can either through this site or otherwise.

Grace and blessings!

From Devon:   Mac has had a WONDERFUL day!
He has been in a reclining chair two days in a row now for a couple hours at a time. And wait for it... spent almost 3 hours off the ventilator today with the help of some oxygen!!
To say he’s pooped tonight is an understatement, but I’m so glad he’s worn out because we are making progress!!
I was hoping to be Georgia bound by like Wednesday, but now we’re looking at the end of the week if all goes well and all outside loose ends are tied before then.
This isn’t my normal long post, but there’s just not much to say other than holy cow!!! He took a giant leap today and I am SOOOOO proud of him. We’re getting there!
I tell him every day that God has his back and he’s moving mountains for him and he just smiles and says “I know he is”. The power of prayer is such a phenomenal thing and I can’t thank you all enough for your endless prayers. Each day the sun seems to shine a little brighter. 💛
