“You guys ready?!” Matty always double checks with the co-hosts of his radio show, The Matty Mac Hour, which airs on Temple’s student radio station before going live on the airways. Always putting others before himself, Matty is a light you can feel while in his presence and hear through the radio. He is an extremely talented, bright, rising senior at Temple University with many talents and gifts aside from his burning passion for hosting his own radio show. There is so much to say about Matty McNamee. He is much more than a friend, a brother, and a son; he is an inspiration to anyone who wishes to have happiness in their life. Matty, without even trying, puts a smile on anyone’s face. From striking up conversations with strangers to eating cat food as a dare for his talk show, Matty is naturally much more than an ordinary college kid. He values everyone’s life as an important part of his own, making sure everyone has a voice to be heard. It is amazing to see Matty in his element, with his love of production and creating content. He aspires to create emotion and laughter everyday with his friends and family. With his consistent hard work and determination, Matt took his radio show to such great popularity that it went from airing once a week to, starting next semester, a five day a week program - everyone loves hearing Matty Ice!As his passion for radio grew, his hard work began to pay off. Matty was finishing out junior year with a bang and landed the internship of his dreams in Los Angeles, California.
Suddenly, Matty’s busy and ambitious schedule dramatically shifted gears after a tragic accident on Friday, May 8, 2015. After a devastating fall, sustaining several serious injuries, including a Traumatic Brain Injury, Matt has been fighting for his life at Hahnemann Hospital. Matty continues to exceed every obstacle thrown his way and builds his strength day by day. Matt is truly a miracle and is fighting this battle not only for himself, but for his family and countless friends, who are waiting to hear his infamous laugh and see his shining smile. Throughout Matt’s courageous battle, he has undergone numerous life saving treatments and surgeries for over a month, and in a few days he will be moved to rehabilitation center to continue his recovery. As of this moment, Matt is still in a coma and still has a long road ahead of him. We ask that you all continue to pray for Matt and are so appreciative of all the continuous love and support shared on the ‘Miracles for Matt’ Facebook Page.
In addition to the constant prayers, love & support, we’ll be collecting donations here on this page to help make Matty’s recovery as seamless as possible.
