Mohawk Trail Regional School System seeks to provide students access to instructional technology and hands-on technology experience.
Your support will help us ensure that all classrooms have access to engaging technology tools for students to learn, create and communicate.
Our first major goal is to equip each of our schools with a small set of Chromebooks, based on student enrollment. We also will provide more training for teachers so that lessons can incorporate web-resources, software and tools that can enhance student learning.
All donations will be used to provide these resources directly to classrooms across the school system.
Just a few ways students may use Chromebooks:
- To learn research and writing skills
- To use Google Apps for collaborative projects
- To take online classes
- To collect data in the field and readily analyze it with software applications
- To make videos and digital photographs
- To meet individual learning needs
- To communicate with students in classrooms worldwide
- To do "virtual field trips" and meet "virtual guest speakers"
- To learn how to code
- To program and control robots
- To create digital art
Jim Markham, Woodshop teacher:
"I would use Chromebooks in my advanced Woodshop class teaching the Google app "Sketchup" to assist students in designing independent projects. In addition,I could imagine expanded opportunities for my Woodshop students to explore the CNC router [a computer-controlled router for cutting a wide range of materials, such as wood, aluminum, and plastics]."
Krissy Schreiber, 6th Grade teacher:
"We would use Chromebooks across the curriculum. We would use them to research for science and social studies, to type our writing, to create two-column notes for all areas, to create power point and Prezi presentations and to share documents using Google Apps."
Bill Drake, Senior Capstone/ELA teacher:
"Chromebooks would allow students in Senior Capstone greater access to their learning. We use Google Classroom for all the assignments and having access to these mobile devices gives students greater flexibility in creating their final, independent projects."
